what do you all think about the add-ons that the dealers are pushing. My dealer made an effort (not real pushy but there) to sell the extended warranty, Lo-Jack, and the "surface protection system" for the exterior paint as well as the interior surfaces. I didnt go for any of these when I picked up the car but still have an opportunity to add them on Monday when finish the paperwork. I normally dont buy these types of things but am at least thinking about the surface protection - is it worth it with the quality that Lexus already puts into its finishes?

the dealer would be remiss NOT to offer those things to you if they have them available. we offer items like the platinum warranty, etc to all of our customers. if they take them, fine, if not, fine as well, but we get a waiver signed that says the customer was offered them but declined. its called "CYA". i do sell a lot of the platinum plans though, its a good protection, imho

The only thing I added was the chip protection (clearbra) on all exterior front and back (and side mirrors) exposed paint areas that can get dinged. Purchased it before on a GS and did again on the LS 460L. Rejected all other such options.
As has been said, they were very nicely offered but not pushed at all. You sign indicating they were offered but rejected so you can't go back (successfully) against a dealer if you encounter a problem that could have been avoided or mitigated by purchasing one of these options.

I wouldn't get any of that.
Geico my insurance company provides me with extended warranty that is cheaper than any other company.
Lojack is a joke considering the advanced technology in this car, besides I still have insurance.
Surface protection -- LOL. It's a scam. At least the others aren't.
Clearbra -- in my opinion clearbras are nice, but not for me even though I drive 60mile+ per day.

A bra is a must, specially if you or your loved one talegates. Not sure on the price, and the only distraction will be if you dont get one. I did not put one on my GS430 and what a mistake that was. Front of my car which only has 17k on it looks like a shot gun blast hit it, rock chips all over . As for the rest of the options, not needed with the high end material Lexus uses. And as for the LoJack, only if you dont have insurance. hehe

On cheaper clearbras they may yellow over time and if you have a bad application or the material they use isn't high quality you'll be able to tell the difference.
It's hard to make it truely unnoticeable. On some occasions you'll be able to tell, but you have to decide if it's worth it
