That's the beauty of it. The RX 400h, GS 450h etc offer the same package as other top-of-the-line Lexus vehicles, but more power, some added external and interior features--and better mph/lower emissions.
You just fill up the car less often, and that's it. The hybrid engine/battery recharges via the gas engine, and brakes.

Well it's the ride experience. The LS460hL will probably have the quietest interior and the smoothest ride. There are many "first"s in this segment:
* Electric motors give you a silent launch
* CVT provides ultra-smooth acceleration
* Adaptive air conditioning
* Self-park feature (but then probably many of these folks have someone else to park the car for them)
* Most fuel efficient
* Best value
Ultra luxury is about prestige but I think it's more than "my car is more expensive than yours." You'd need to qualify your bragging rights.

Big Jimm,
With all due respect, have you ever driven a hybrid car?
We have the Toyota Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid that are way cheaper. And they're similiar to the Lexus Hybrids.
Check them out when you have time.

i agree with what most said here.... who said lexus hybrid is just about saving money. if that's the case, get a prius. lexus hybrid is all about performance at a fair price imho. the gs450h and the rx400h, they both provide much better performance than their v6 brother yet with better or almost same gas mileage
same with the ls600hl. you get the v12 performance and smoothness with benefit of v8. simple as that

Jimm, its the fact Toyota/Lexus believes in hybrids as the way to give more to the consumer and take less from the environment. The LS 600h L is not just the pinnacle of Lexus tech but the grandest luxury car ever from Japan.
Lexus did not want to go the usual route and go with a V-12 as well. This shows innovation. V-12 performance, V8 fuel economy.
Lexus knows its not about sales only 5% is allocated to be produced out of all LS production.
Its about the HALO!
