There's a discussion now on the 2007 IS brochure thread, where supposedly the passenger seat memory isn't mentioned, but some IS cars have them...

Lexus really limits a lot of goodies that could work well in the SWB to only the LWB. Exclusivity...right.

BTW, I don't see any mention of the wallet-sized smart card in the document. Is it available to the US after all?
look for pics of the ls600hl, it has 19" wheels. wonder if those are the ones being offered

that is correct, 2007 IS brochure mentions only driver memory, and not passanger, although it obviously exists.

People are spending way too much time discussing that, i have very little doubt that the feature will be there...

Default Questions

1. Does Lexus offer a chrome wheels option and, if so, what have they been charging? (I understand that MB doesn't even offer them.) I love chrome wheels.

2. The "touring package" that's being talked about .. just what is it and how does it change the ride? I assume that a "sport package" (if there is one) would make the ride stiffer, which I wouldn't want in a luxury car.

My guess is that it's the same as the standard 19" wheels on the LS600hL ? or is it a different 19" wheel ?

Although we won't know for sure the difference between driving the LWB & SWB versions of the LS460 until someone has driven them, but some reviews of the Jaguar XJ sedans did not notice any differences in handling between the long & short versions of the Jag.

Why the interest in 19" wheels? I remember when the standard was 16 then it went to low pressure tires with 15's and 14's.

Don't bigger diameter wheels just set the car up higher? Who wants that? What am I missing?

I note that some young guys, with older cars, are putting Huge diameter wheels on making the cars look skinny, top heavy and REALLY high! They look like they're ready for a ride out in the Everglades!

usually if you go up in diameter your tires get thinner (overall diameter needs to stay the same for speedo purposes). On my prelude stock I had 205/50/16 and I went to 215/35/18 still very close to the same overall diameter. When its near the same diameter actual height shouldnt change

correct, the larger the diameter of the RIM (not wheel), the lower the profile of the tires (sidewall). that's the trend anyway

Thanks for the info, but I guess I really MUST be missing something. (Really out of touch, I guess. That wouldn't be the first time.)

But, I have NEVER been inclined toward skinnier tires. If anything, I've liked WIDER tires. (Like my vette, altho I wouldn't want them quite that wide on the Lexus.) Maybe I'd think differently about the skinnier if I saw them.

By the way, I understand that factory chrome wheels from Lexus are 2,000. (The same cost as factory Corvette wheels.) There is a guy in Deerfield Beach, who I've dealt with, who says he will exchange the factory Lexus wheels for chrome's for 800. (And he ships, too.) Of course you have to get them installed someplace which will be around 120.

Well, Jimm, when 4TehNguyen said "thinner" he didn't mean "skinnier". "Thinner" tires mean tires with shorter side walls, not shorter width. Hope this clears it up for you.

i read the touring package data somewhere:

19” five-spoke wheels with 245/45YR

I think on the 18" you get 235/50/18 or something with a thicker sidewall but its slightly less wide. 235 width all around seems kinda small to me?

If it's indeed 19" 5-spoke, then it's different from the 19" rims on the LS600hL, which is 7-spoke.

that is some fat tires, considering that most other setup out there are 245/35 when you go to 19s. this is 2" larger in overall diameter
