lol, as discussed before, they need minivan. but then it's so hard coz' toyota and honda are making minivans so great already, it's so hard to top those imho without "competing" with their own

Toyota has a good hold on the mini vans market so putting a "L" variant would be tough. A wagon would fill the opening in a unique segment. While Audi, BMW and MB have some, I think this market is largley untapped. May be pointless and a low seller, the thought amuses me.

I'd like a larger capacity vehilce but not SUV class, an RX is almost there. The LWB makes good at the extra space.

The LS460 & LS460 L are both great large sedans. I hear the LS460 will be priced around 65 grand while the LS460 L will be like 75,000 dollars not even loaded all the way. The reason for having longer wheelbase is to give every single passenger in the cabin extremely large space. The LS L will be purchased by CEOs and wealthy business men and wowmen. while the smaller LS will be purchased by guys wanting a lighter sportier car that thats not to big. The GS and LS guys have simular taste in cars I would rather have the regular LS over the longer L b/c the take will be quicker.

lol i was about to say that. the 600hl will smoke the 460

plus the lwb won't be that much heavier than the swb anyway. look at the weight difference between the s class swb and lwb.

i would get and ONLY get lwb, if i get the car

I would likely go with LWB version too, I want all the goodies that's available from Lexus for this car

I think both would be great picks. I owned a S-class and I have a LS 430 now, and more space in both cars was never a issue. I think its just another option adding on to the price of the cars overall.

Also Lexus has become what Benz and Bmw and all the other luxury car companies have and, its a matter of time before they will be exactly like there competitors! That said, it truly makes no difference to me and wont when they start selling long wheelbases.

I had no problem with the short wheelbase(Present LS400/LS430) to begin with! Still the new LS460 is a great looking car but, I'll wait a year or two to see if the bugs are out by then. Maybe get a 2008 or 2009 LS 460 then. Lexus has arrived at making the LS more of a car of its own with the new design!

seems like we are both in line with each other. i would definitely wait a yr or two first to let them sort out all the bugs. a car this new in terms of technology, they probably need some time

The heart says I can't wait to get my hands on it, but the mind says let's wait until they iron out the early production bugs. Yes, the waiting will be tough, I don't think I will get it until the fall of next year the earliest.

That would be a wise thing to do. I learned the hard way buying the first year and second year models of cars. I was told to wait and didnt and the rest is history. My 2001 has had a number of problems and thankfully I was under warranty. Problems have gone away now though and the car is running great.

The key is to learn from your mistakes in car buying and find out what other fellow buyers have went through. Lexus makes a reliable car for the most part so chances are that there wont be many bugs but, the first year always has its share of problems. And those looking to save a few bucks will be smart to wait until someone trades in there 2007 LS460/LS460L. Find one at about 15,000-30,000 miles and save a pretty penny!

If I were to buy within the next 365 days thats what I would do is buy used certified pre-owned!

the key point is about test drive. no one said you can't test drive more than once a yr

You can bet that I'd test drive this car as soon as it's available this fall at every opportunity, but it can also make waiting even tougher, the temptation would be so great after you have sat in it & driven it

I currently drive an Infiniti QX56 thats being handed down to my wife when my 460L comes in. My QX is from their second year of production and I had a problem with the brakes and I had to take it in 3 times before they fixed it. Other than that I am very happy with my QX. I'm willing to roll the dice on this car. I've never owned a Lexus but from I hear they are the real thing.
