Post may be better served in the Classified section for the LS. Have your thread title revised under WTB. Wanted to Buy. This may serve you better.

If money is no object, then go to the dealership.

Screw buying one , go to a muffler shop and have them build one out of stainless steel for $150 and get some extra power.

All you need to pay for is labor and a few bucks for pipe. Pipe is NOT expensive at all. If they want to charge you a hell of a lot then go somewhere else.

But I'd definately recommend just having it done by a muffler shop.

If you want a NICE rumble but still quiet while driving in city+highway, get 2 1/4" pipes, 2 long resonators and two good mufflers. Then whel you get on it it'll definately break necks!

FYI to everyone in the picture the front exhaust section merges into a TWC. It will be more than "$150" to fabricate a new section if they install a catalytic converter, and most shops will not delete emissions components.

thats IF it has a cat, its been determined in a previous thread that SOME LS400s came with a center catalytic converter but MOST came with a center resonator/muffler.

either way, theres no O2 sensor behind it iirc so it wouldnt make THAT much of a difference if you removed it in so far as passign the tailpipe test.

Sorry I live in WA... I'm used to just having the cats removed!! heheh.

But yeah If there's a new cat being purchased then it should be over $150

In that picture it's a TWC, so if his looks like that, then he has a TWC. End of story.

As to passing the sniffer test, that's not a concern, but finding a shop that will break the law by removing a TWC to replace it with piping or a resonator is.

I replaced mine with 2 new o2 bungs for my after cat sensors. My total system cost 4-500 and included a SS magna flow X pipe.
It can be done easy for $150
