Default Giving up my 2003 Lexus LS430 for a 2000 LS400?

I found a beautiful 2000 Lexus LS400 for $7400.00. It has 81,000 miles. Two little pings on passenger side that a dentless guy would make smooth as glass. This car is immaculate. Trying to talk my wife into selling her 2010 Honda Accord, then taking over on my 2003 LS430. I would drive the 2000 LS400. The second owner drove it a total of 20,000 miles in 9 years. Beautiful car, silver exterior, gray interior, no navigation, and no air suspension. What would you do?

The LS400 is a great car. I miss my 99 a bit but definitely not enough to backtrack. I would go the other direction. Keep your 03 until you can afford the right 04 - 06 430 or 2010 up 460.

well....you can get really solid 01 and 02 LS430s for about that. So the LS400 should be somewhat less. For me, at 5k it becomes a no brainer, more than that, I'd have to really like the color, options, condition, did they have maint done like the suspension etc. ...on the other hand, I was talking to a guy today that prefers the LS400 to the 430, says it rides more solid. So personal preferences start to be the bigger factor at this price point, i'd say.

It drove like a dream, stopped on a dime, and purred like a kitten.

When it comes to Lexus, you're pretty much gonna get a great car. If you prefer the original no frills model, then sounds like you found a gem.

I've been driving LS400s since 2001 and while both of the 97s I've owned have been great cars, I'm a bit bored now with my 18 year old Coach Edition. I'm ready to upgrade to a more modern LS430. Ideally a 2005 or 2006 without air suspension...
