Default Picked up a 04 LS430 to go with my 07 LS460

I've owned a LS460 for a while and usually hang out at the LS460 forum. I have learned so much from this site. I always also liked the more upright look of the LS430, so started hanging out at the LS430 section to learn more about this model. Well... thanks to you guys, I 'got me' a 04, 82K miles, sport suspension LS430. I love both cars and my wife thinks I'm crazy.

Very nice! Welcome and congratulations. The 430 is a great car. You will probably like it more then the 460 after a few months. It will be more reliable too.

Thanks, I have a feeling that you are right about the LS430 being more reliable. The LS460 already had 3 major recalls including the valve springs and recently the fuel pressure sensor gasket. I still love the LS460 and it's more reliable than any of its contemporary rivals. I guess car manufacturers today have different priorities, i.e. technology over reliability. Both the 430 and the 460 are great cars with their own strengths and weaknesses.

It will be interesting to see your perspective going from the 460 to the 430. I went from the 430 to a 2010 460L. Hated it, and then went back to the 430. Granted, mine may have been a lemon with the engine ticking and frequent visits to the shop, but I hope you check back and let us know how you feel about both after you have some time with the new 430.

Looks just like my Dad's old 04, he had chromed 17s though and a UL with the air suspension.

I still enjoy looking at the 430s and the 400s.

Thanks, CSTU93, I'll start my search!

Of course my wife will divorce me and take away my house and I'll be living in a studio apartment with my 3 LS's parked in the parking garage.

There is no problem with downsizing. LMAO. Just give her a few months and sneak it home.

Robles84, TSA1, thanks. I am enjoying the 430. The engine is actually quieter than the 460 and with the sport suspension, it actually handles and feels more planted than my 460.

Wink LS430 is in a class of its own

I have a 1996 LS400 purchased 17 years ago now with 250k on the odometer. In conjunction with the 400 I've had numerous luxury cars/SUVs like Escalade, BMW 7 series, LS460, etc. Always liked the look of the 430 but never acted on it until a month ago. Bought a 430 with 100k miles as a toy car and now I can't stay out of it. Everything I have ever wanted in a car, to include reliability, is a property. I dumped my 460 at 78k miles for a new RX350 F sport due to suspension issues and expiring warranty. I never really liked the 460 feel. Even test drove a couple new 460s to validate my loss of desire for the car. Now the 430 has rejuvenated the "I can't wait to drive it" feeling each day. The seats, the leather, the ride, the amenities are mind blowing for a car of that age. So when you desire to ride in a corvette, jump in the 460, when you want to drive a truly supple luxury sedan - go 430.

Exactly the same way I felt. Never have regretted for a second dumping my 460L and going back to the 430. In my opinion, it does what a true luxury car should do better than the 460.

Beautiful car. Congratulations on your purchase! I am now 2 months into owning my 04 LS430 and still giddy every time I get in the car to drive it. And from what I've heard they are about the most reliable Lexus built which solidified the deal for me. You'll love it!

That it is one beautiful LS430! You chose wisely. Definitely keep us up to date on driving both cars. Something about the 430 like an old pair of Allen Edmonds wing tips; they just get better with time!
