8Ohm Kicker replacement for LS430 ML Sub still available
Hi!
There are still some KickerC8 8ohm subs out there even though Crutchfield and many others stopped selling them. They are about as 'drop in and go' as a non-Lexus sub will be...if you solder in the factory plug off the old unit ( I soldered, heat shrunk, and taped mine), and use some butyl rubber (dum-dum) to mount it, you don't even have to punch holes in the deck...I just replaced the factory ML sub in my '01 UL and it sounds great...bass sounds great from the Beasties to Bach and no amp shut-down
...get it here:
I don't have stock in either Kicker or Amazon, and have no ulterior motives in presenting the previous information...I just saw so many posts saying how great the C8 was for them and how easy it was to install, and by the time I needed it, it seemed to be nowhere to be found, so hopefully, this helps someone else

Using a 4ohm sub would almost certainly cause the amp to stress unless you wired a resister into the speaker which would look like a higher load to the amp but would greatly reduce the sub's sound output/volume.

If you like. do your thing and report back over time..There are a zillion posts on replacing ML systems. Anything other than OEM eventually causes havoc and amp failure or issues. Research carefully. Good luck.

I was thinking about replacing my sub since it doesn't work at all. It just rattles alot with my kicker 10" l7 hitting in the trunk.
Also was thinking about removing it and making a custom vent hole for the sub or the 2 12" l7s I have just sitting in the garage

There has been a lot of talk about subwoofer replacements for the ML system, but does anyone know the specifications of the Pioneer subwoofer in the base system and what might be best to replace it with?

ML Premium Sound System Question
I have a 2003 LS430. When I start the car up the radio comes on fine and then I get a alert "ding" and the sound shuts off. It has the ML Premium Sound System with the Navigation System. I took my rear driver's side door panel off to check the speakers and the foam has unattached, which I've found out is a very common problem. What I'm wondering is, is the amp shutting off and is that a auto function of some sort and if I replace my speakers will that fix it, or is it a malfunction of some sort and the amp needs replacing? I've read a lot of different forums about the ML Premium system but haven't come across a problem quite like mine. Thanks for any help!

So I tore apart the rear woofer and found non-ML woofer is dual 2ohm setup.......so the kicker 8ohm is useless now. Ordering dual 2ohm coil woofer from pioneer, anyone looking for a new kicker 8ohm woofer PM me.
