Default Has anyone picked up one of these replacement steering wheels?

My 2006 LS430 steering wheel has heat cracked clear coat on the wood, and the leather paint is starting to fade in some areas.

The Sewell price for a replacement from Lexus is roughly $1500.00. The refurb company in Dallas costs about $550.00 and three weeks of down time.

I was looking at these on EBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/01-06-Lexus-...28d42b&vxp=mtr

and

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2001-2002-2003-2004-2005-LEXUS-LS430-WOOD-LEATHER-STEERING-WHEEL-VIP-JP-/230138818280?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item359557aee8&vxp=mtr
Was hoping someone here might have picked one up and could comment on quality, color matching and so forth?

Thanks,
Randy B

They pretty much look like the real deal, more pictures would help though.

Haven't any experience with them.

A lot of wrecking yards have shipping. You may be wanna try that as well.

JZSInternational [zeroism702] sells a lot of JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) parts and accessories on eBay and direct to consumers world-wide. (2nd link in your post) Their parts are authentic, and tend to be a bit expensive, but that's the price of import piece parts.

Silkblaze do some really nice ones.

Its a shame they are out of the lighter colored woodgrain, otherwise I would have one.

Default Thanks for all the replies.

I called both places last evening, and spoke with them. Both are aftermarket, non Toyota refurbs on original wheels. The wood is not wood on either one. Both are plastic imitations with a graphic reproduction of the wood veneer pattern. The leather is real, however the color may not match up exactly to the airbag like an OEM wheel, unless you have a black interior.

That being said, I'll be deciding on whether to pickup a used one and have it refinished over the three week time frame by the company in Dallas, or just spend the bucks for a new one and be done with this.

Friend don't let friends buy plastic wood steering wheels. I always think saving money is a good idea but the LS and the LS owner deserves better than a plastic steering wheel.

I like the sculpted shape of that SilkBlaze wheel- but honestly, I hate wood accents on all wheels. I want luxury- and I don't want a HARD vibrating surface under my hands. give me a nice leather wrapped wheel with good shape and I'm happy. The #1 thing I'd change on my car is that wood top on the steering wheel, it fades, cracks and feels terrible even new under the hand vs. the leather bits.

I have a Silk Blaze steering wheel in my LS. I love it! Makes the car feel brand new again.
