I gave my kids buddy my battery for his diabetic test kit skiing in the boondocks in Mt Bohemia"one of 10 best undiscovered ski resorts in the world". The blade's little nipple is depressed and the blade will not retract as now I have a new replacement battery. I think this is a first on the Smartkey, any experience with this anyone?

By "little nipple", are you talking about the "Release Latch" shown in the picture below?

no the nipple on the side of the actual blade not the battery door.

I see... On my SMART key ('04 Base Model), the battery door "Release Latch" is also used to allow the blade to extent and retract. Try sliding the "Release Latch" to the release position (away from the blade) and push on the blade to see if you can retract it.
