I put the trunk ones on two years ago, and have not looked back. I think they cost me $34.00 for the pair on EBay.

I just put the hood pones last week. Caught them on EBay for $27.96 for the pair. Took fifteen minutes to pull the old ones off and install the new ones.

Thanks to all who contributed to the post, especially the video! Just finished changing my struts (purchased on eBay for $20) and the hood is working like new! My car still had the OEM struts on them so I had to remove the mounting screws before I could install the replacements. The only watchout is that the mounting screws have a 12mm head; I thought it was 1/2" and I stripped the first head that I tried to remove with my 1/2" wrench. It took a little time and some elbow grease to remove the stripped head, but once I got it off the rest of the installation went smoothly.

Replaced the trunk struts on our '01 LS430 a couple years back and did the hood struts just last fall. Inexpensive and easy to do and the safety factor is good......

on the Strong arm struts.. have done both the hood and trunk a few years ago on a couple of cars and they're still holding up great. I also got mine from ebay.

Just order a set for $16.00 on EBAY. Have bought these cheep ones before and they were good fort 3 years before i sold the car

Replaced hood struts with strong arm a few years ago for about $20 and are great. I had the originals in there and one day I almost got decapitated! My trunk still has the OEMs. Strong Arm is the way to go and they are not only cheap but seem to hold up.
