2016 Lexus LS: first full size luxury sedan to utilize the fuel cell technology.
The LS 4th Gen pioneered some amazing features such as the 1UR-FSE V8 engine with dual fuel injection (direct plus port inject); the 8-speed automatic transmission; the AC system with infrared body temperature sensors etc.
10 years later after the 4th Gen redesign, the LS will be redesigned again with some impressive features. One, rumored to use fuel cell technology.
Can't wait to see the new LS, what are your thoughts on this?

It also pioneered major valve train problems, acceleration problems, and recalls. It took until 2009 to fix the major engine issues. But I like the 460 still. I hope Lexus continues the LS. Some rumors think it is nearing an end due to sales. Sure hope not.

I'm excited. hope they can pull it off and work out the kinks in the new Mirai that was just launched. The LS really needs to innovate to regain ground lost to the S-Class over the years and especially with their 2014 release.

Pole Position
I think our friends on the LS460 sub-fourm has beat this to death.
Although i'm not sure 'friends' is the correct word. Something more like stewards of our future cars.
There's definitely going to be a next-gen LS. Word on the street is that the LS will share a platform with a RWD-biased AWD 3 row crossover. Obviously that's a strategic segment which Toyota doesn't have a clear candidate for.
Look at 3 row luxury cross overs: Q7, Acura MDX, X5 with an X7 on the horizon, Range Rover, et. al
Toyota's largest unibody SUV is the highlander, which already shares a platform with the RX.
It's a really smart decision, I think, to amortize the platform. Hopefully this will make it easier for them to spend the last billion it takes to make it right from the launch.
And hopefully this will really mess up the depreciation of the LS460s muhahaha. I tell myself I'm driving my LS430 until I can import a Toyota Century but I also tell myself I'm going to exercise, which is equally a lie.
The next LS will be a more sporty car than an LS hereunto. Personally, I think that's TEH SUX. But we'll see how the market responds. I wish them all the best.
Oh and the powertrains are probably going to be a 5 liter V8 (you know the one), a V6 hybrid system, and a fuel cell.

I definitely would not call the RC350 a flagship product. That will be the new LC.

2016 Lexus...
I think things like the extremely expensive LS460 suspension problems in 2010 and 2011 cost Lexus some long time fans. My wife and I have been driving Lexus since the late 90's (we've had multiple ES, LS and RX models.) The reason we kept trading up was the quality and dependability --and lack of repairs required. In short "VALUE".
I don't feel that "VALUE" is there in the most recent models.
The best cars I've ever owned, by far:
ES 300
LS430
