2001 LS 189,000 Miles
So, here’s my take on the 90K service. I just DYI’ed the 2nd timing belt over the weekend, the Original owner completed the 90K service in November 2009, timing belt only no idlers or water pump @ 93,000, dealer serviced.
Observation - Every idler bearing both on the Timing Belt and the Serpentine drive system was rough, noisy with bearing play. They were all in need of replacement. The large idler on the serpentine system (Part # 16630-50011) was weeks if not days from failure, not included in the Rockauto kit.
The timing belt was in good condition but stiff in comparison to the new belt. Water pump showed some signs of leaking from the gasket but still looked good. I also replaced several cooling system hoses and the radiator. Radiator was a preference thing, old plastic radiators and I don’t get along.
This may be a case where can defend being frugal on the 1st timing belt service, but I would think that you better be Johnny on the spot for the second. I would also expect to get your check book out for the 2nd service if being dealer serviced or even going through and independent mechanic /shop. Cost on parts was $640ish not counting the radiator, I could have shaved $120 or so off that if I didn't have to go to Lexus on Saturday for the above pulley.
I did not do cam seals, they were not leaking, I was approaching a skill level issue. We will see if this bites me in the lower part of my anatomy.
Parts replaced
Timing Belt, tensioner, 2 timing idlers, water pump, serpentine belt, 3 serpentine idlers, thermostat w/gasket, small cooling hoses on the water inlet and throttle body, radiator, upper & lower radiator hoses, radiator cap.
To quote the old STP commercial - You can pay me now or pay me later. Adding to the quote - “it usually cost more for the privilege of paying later”.
Love to hear thoughts.

Nice. I will probably wait until about 200k for my service. I am going to do the cam and crank seal as well as the starter and radiator among all the other items. Do it all at once. That is if those items make it until then.

Welp like a true CL'r i went and bought all the damn parts including waterpump plus more. Plugs were done at 60k miles verified by the dealership, ill wait on that. Looks like the waterpump failure is the most concerning thing after reading almost every thread on CL about it lol. Thanks for all the replies.
