Part numbers for 2001 Navigation DVD Drive
I am getting the "no disc detected" message and figured it's cheaper and easier to just buy a used DVD drive rather then pay big money to have it fixed . So other then the part number 86841-50010 , what other part numbers will work ? Did the 02 and 03 have a different part number and if so will that drive work ? Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure thats it . I did some google fu and found that the 2002 SC430 guys upgrade to gen 3 and gen 4 DVD drives . And they had the exact same drive that the 2001 LS430 has. So logic would tell me that maybe i can actually upgrade to a gen 3 or 4 DVD drive ? If thats the case then there are plenty of used ones online for under 350 bux .

Yes, I installed Gen 4 in my '01. Gen 2 & 3 are basically the same (Gen 2 was in '01 LS.) Gen 4 is '04 - '06. For Gen 4, use part #s: 86841-50090 or 86841-0E010. For additional details, see:

ok never mind , I just bought 86841-50090 with an included disc inside for $230 shipped with a 30 day warranty from a parts place about 2 hours away from me. I should have it tmrw or the next day . Keeping my fingers crossed that everything works well . The guy said it was tested and worked 100 percent. It says March 2005 on the back and came out of an 05 prius . Thanks again for the help Tom !!

It's likely that the included Nav disc is old, like version 5.1 (unless it was updated by prior owner). Check the disc number when you receive. The newest version disc that was just released this month is CY 14.1. It's available for $99 at Sewell ($93.94 for CL members). Current roads and more POIs.

sounds good to me. I'll just sell the disc included on ebay i guess and grab the updated one . now I just need to find a rear sunshade motor and a regulator for one of my windows and I'm good to go . If anyone has a lead on a cheap rear OEM air shock for an UL then holler at me plz , need one of those too.

Great news! I know some don't care for the LS430 Nav (even the Gen 4) choosing instead to use smartphone apps, TomTom, Garmin, etc. Glad to hear you agree that the Gen 4 is an upgrade (especially compared to the Gen 2 in the '01). Know too that the Gen 5 Nav (I have in a 2009 Sienna) is not noticeably different than the Gen 4 Nav. So the first gen LS460's (2007 - 09) have essentially what you have in the Gen 4. Enjoy your DIY!
