My wife's Premiers were given a $262 credit at Costco, and we could get any tire we wanted. I actually wanted to go with the Premier DTs, since now they have 10/32 not 8.5/32. With extrapolation, though, that maybe would take the DTs to 63k. Suddenly, all is revealed. If they had started at 10/32, they'd be normal--so Michelin did try to cheat, like the 59 oz orange juice, 29 oz mayonnaise, 12 oz bacon. How can we as consumers be this bad at math?

Decided to go with Bridgestones that have a 70k warranty @ $195 each, or $463 out the door all included. Interesting thing about Costco? 1 the warranty was so easy, I was afraid of the fine print and rotations. 2 the prices are same as online etailers 3 under warranty no charge for mounting/balance which is normally $80 but they give a $40 credit with their sales (not gonna be able to beat $40 to mount/bal 4 tires, in our case, $0) 3 It's probably just Costco--you can get any brand of tire you want with the warranty

Seems like with Costco one is not going to get burned by poor treadwear and can switch to another brand of tire if desired

Pirelli has a new tire for the Lexus LS430, the P7 AS Plus 3, P225/55R 17, 97H. Not many reviews though. The Lexus dealer recommends the Hankook Ventus AS Noble2 tire. After buying the OEM Dunlop Sports 5000M for 18 years, it is now discontinued. I've narrowed down my search to these two tires. I'm looking for a quiet, comfortable, and good handling tire. Can a Lexus LS430 owner who is running one of these on there LS 430 provide some valuable input? Tire price and wear is not a consideration in my purchase decision. It is a tough choice and don't want to spend $900 to find out I made a mistake after I buy them and then I'm stuck with them.

Have a set of Pirelli P7 All Season Plus 3 245/45R18 100V XL tires on a 2006 LS430 and they seem quite satisfactory so far, but haven't put many miles on them yet. They are noticeably quieter than the Firestone Firehawk all season tires that were on the car. They are comfortable and handle well.

Pirelli P7 All Season Plus 3 has a Tire Treadwear Rating of 740 and a Uniform Tire Quality Grade (UTQG): 740 A A
Hankook Ventus AS Noble2 has a Tire Treadwear Rating of 500 and a Uniform Tire Quality Grade (UTQG): 500 AA A

Based on those ratings the Pirelli P7 All Season Plus 3 should last nearly 50% longer than the Hankook Ventus AS Noble2. The longer expected tread life was an important factor for me.

Also looked at the Michelin Defender T + H All-Season Tire, Treadwear Rating 820, Uniform Tire Quality Grade (UTQG): 820 A B, but Michelin apparently does not make them in a 245/45R18 size. (it does, however make it in 225/55R 17)

I have the previous version of the Pirellis, the AS Plus 2. Very quiet and smooth riding. You won’t get more then 35-40k miles out of them, but the warranty is very good and I got a large credit back on the first version which lasted about 28k. I would try to purchase from Discount/America’s tire as they allow easy returns if you are unsatisfied.
