Default Tail-light bulb replacement?

Hey guys. The top left light on my pass tail light went out and I was told that the bulb cannot simply be replaced, rather you have to buy the entire housing???

I just can't imagine this being the case but wanted to confirm with CL...

This is the light I'm talking about...

Nope not yet. I was told by Paul @ Lextech that the assembly has to be replaced so I just took his word for it... But having a hard time believing that it's not just a simple bulb that can be replaced...

Is it possible?

What year is your car? Guessing its an 04~06 with the factory LED tailights. If thats the case I do believe there are no serviceable bulbs besides the reverse and blinker. See pic.

Pretty sure the LEDs are built into the housing. Although I would take a look as it could be a bad connection and nothing needs to be replaced. I find it a little hard to believe there would only be one LED in that location and that all of them would go out at the same time.

The '04-'06 is a LED housing with no bulb. If you were handy, you might be able to remove it and resolder some new LED on if you can figure which burned out.

Paul said the oem part was over $100... so I told him I could live with the 1 light being out for a while... actually at that time, the light would work at times, and not work certain times... Sometimes it would also be a little dimmer than the others..

Perhaps this does mean it's a loose connection?

The symptoms sound like it's a loose connection to me.

Have you figured out the problem?

I'm having issues with my right rear tail lamp piece. Sometimes the top LED row will go out, sometimes the bottom, and sometimes the entire side. My friend the other day told me it flickered sometimes when he was following.

I'd hate to have to replace it and then have the same issue on the other three tail light pieces..
