Default Radio stop & pops after bumps

Odd issue in my 01 LS430 UL. Radio works fine but stops working when we hit a bump. Once that happens, radio emits a pop sound like every 5 seconds or so. I can fix it by opening passenger front door and slamming shut. But only lasts so long until the radio gives out.

Went to area where amp is and tapped my hand around, moved wires, and no change. Have to slam passenger door to make it work again but it does work.

Anyone had such an issue or have ideas where I could look to fix this? Sure appreciate any help!

Since you mentioned that slamming the passenger door fixes the problem, I suspect that you may have a loose fuse or connector in the passenger-side J/B. On my 04 LS430, there are 3 fuses that relate to the audio system in that J/B: "RADIO No.1", "P-ACC", and "TEL".
Try wiggling each of these fuses with your radio on and see if you can replicate the problem.

HI
Checked the right side and i see a whole fuse panel there on my 01. Nothing i can tell is loose. So radio was doing the pop every five seconds...slammed passenger door and radio worked. Now while it is parked in driveway I cannot get it to go back to popping. I tapped all around door, dash, moved steering wheel, wipers, slammed door again 10x..no change. Wife is taking it out today so lets see if I can get info if it goes out again. Very odd.

Well if you cannot get it to pop while parked, that means you have not wiggled the "right" wires. Another place to look would be your speaker connections. Sometimes, a short in your speaker wires will cause the radio to pop, and ultimately shutoff to protect itself. You will have to get behind the door panel to check this out. Try wiggling the passenger-side front speaker wires to see if you can replicate the problem, or just unplug the wires and go for a drive to see the popping resume. You have a loose connection or a short somewhere, we just need to go through the process of elimination to find it.

good idea. will start with that door i slam shut. I was able to pull away the bottom of the door panel but not enough to get my hand or head to see. Not sure how door panel is attached up higher. BUt will take a look closer at this area. sure appreciate the help.
