Default New Rotors - What to do with the old ones?

I just did a complete brake job on my '02 UL with 125k. Decided to go with new OEM rotors to get that very smooth feel. It turned out great. Now I have to dispose of the used rotors. Do they have any scrap value or should I just leave them at the curb with the rest of the weekly trash? Any ideas will be accepted. Thank you.

Probably not worth the drive to the scrap yard so might as well toss them out.

Suggest you put them in the recycle bin so they don't end up in a landfill somewhere....

I dropped off 8 rotors and a busted up double garage door, at the metal recyclers, they handed me $18.

scrap iron paying less than 10 cents a pound these days. Aluminum, on the other hand, gets you around 60 cents.

I rode around with them in the trunk until I passed a scrapyard (ie: recycler). The rotors, bag of old brake hardware and a few miscellaneous items brought about $5. The money wasn't the issue, I just wanted to dispose of them properly.

I like the idea of recycling them, but at least in my area you'd have to burn a lot of gas taking them to a scrap yard. If I had one nearby, I drop them off even if there was no money in it.

I sometimes keep them just in case I have issues with the new rotors later on, I figure I can turn the old ones in a pinch

But I usually just throw them in the garbage. I don't like to be a hoarder.

We have special recycling bins that are picked up alongside our garbage. Perfectly acceptable to toss them in those bins and then they get recycled. Too much hassle to take them to a metal recycling place to get $2.28 in return!

Changing out my rotors on Sunday. Guess I will hold on to the used ones briefly, then chuck them in the recycle bin.

Having EBC USR Slotted rotors installed with Akebono pro-ACT ceramic pads.
