Greg, there are instructions in the Vaistech manual how to program it to automatically remove the disclaimer screen after it's "On" for about 5 seconds.

Just be aware that the file linked is Gen 5 not 4 for the LS430.

Sorry about that. I still have my original version 3.1 disk. If version 3.1 works, PM me your email and I'll upload the file to my onedrve. It's about 50mb.

Honestly, I don't think the hybrid disk works on the LS430 gen 4. Or at least only limited functions. I searched many post and it seems to those who got it to boot up were still unable to enter addresses and were having stability issues as well.

As it's suggested to use a 5.1 disc, you could try it with a earlier one. If you have both disc, how much is a dual layer disc to try it ? $5 ?

I'm wondering if it works myself, I did read that in the past that it works fine and gives you the new maps with the overdrive...

That was the problem I was having on my 2001 GEN2/3 system, as it would read the disc and it work but, after driving for a little bit, I would get the error "unable to read disc" and that really blew when I was using the nav to get someplace....

If you upgrade, and something doesn't work right after a while, can you put back the old DVD and go back to the original version of the NAV?

Yes you can. If your need the nav unit to reload the firmware then pull the negative on the battery for 30 seconds with the original disk back in.

Wouldn't that trigger the anti-theft protection of the stereo system?

Also, on a NAV DVD update/upgrade, would you lose all existing saved settings, locations, etc?

I believe you loose your poi settings and maybe saved addresses if you pull negative. It does not affect any anti theft control.

14.1 is out. Unfortunately, you still have to agree to the nav disclaimer. They got rid of this in gen 5 vehicles. Disappears after 5 seconds.

I have version 14.1 - $85 with my discount at local dealer. (Lexus offering it at $99 until Dec. 31). (It's not the disc that auto removes the Disclaimer, it's the Nav unit. If you have a Vaistech MML or similar, the Disclaimer auto removes in 5 seconds or so on Gen 2/3 and Gen 4 Nav units.) I have Gen 5 Nav in Toy Sienna. It's very similar to Gen 4, with a few additional features, and screen is slightly sharper image. Some have inserted Gen 5 discs into Gen 4 systems claiming to get the sharper screen, but the screen is also higher quality in Gen 5 systems (like evolution of flat screen TVs with higher resolution from 480 to 720 to 1080).

I updated to 14.1 recently in my 2005 LS430. Significant increase in CA coverage over the past 10 years for me (see attached), so it was worth it.

Did you say $85 with your discount and $99 until 12/31? Tom57. please provide details and dealer name. It is a good price and I may update my '02 UL which has version 9, gen 2/3. Thanks.

Excellent discussion but way above my knowledge base to mess around with. So I simply followed Lav's instructions regarding the installation of newer DVD and it seems to work fine and took about 10 minutes. As noted in another post be sure to allow tolls etc (if you use them) as that information is lost with changing DVD's. I didn't and getting to Chicago took a lot longer than it ever has!
