Default My 'new' 2004 LS430 Sport

Hello forum, long time no see.

A couple weeks ago I purchased a Mercury Metallic LS430 sport tuned package with modern luxury package and smart access. Black interior. 35% window tint. It's in incredible shape for having 188k miles but I'm going to go ahead and clay, polish and wax it for good measure. Those that know me know that I'm a Mercedes guy, but the 04+ updated LS430 is a car I've always admired. I always believed this was the car that the W140 S class 'passed the torch' to.. but I digress.

Since I've purchased the car I've addressed a few issues with the it including fixing the driver's side door actuator with a $10 motor, buying new wipers, new cabin air filter, new engine air filter, installing michelin pilot MXM4 tires, updating the navigation to the 13.1 update (GEN4), and also raising the HID lights since for some reason they were pointed waaaaay to low. These HIDs are actually brighter than my old 2006 Corvette's HIDs. I used to think all HIDs were created equally lol. I was able to gain much of the info on these repairs and DIY by searching the forums. Very invaluable info especially for the actuator.

Today I finished upgrading the interior lights to LED including license plate lights, trunk and the outside courtesy mirror lights. It has that 'newer' lexus look to it now. Couldn't have done it without the write up on here.

I do have a question regarding upgrading the DRL to LED. I searched and could not find an answer so I was hoping someone could shed some light on it lol. If I was to purchase these lights:
Amazon.com: Classy Autos White 9005 LED Bulbs 68 SMD for Subaru Daytime Running Lights High Beam (A Pair): Automotive Amazon.com: Classy Autos White 9005 LED Bulbs 68 SMD for Subaru Daytime Running Lights High Beam (A Pair): Automotive

Would it be plug and play or does it require an adapter of some sort? I just don't like the yellow look of the stock DRLs so a true white light would be a nice facelift even if at the expense of highbeams (which are useless with these HIDs)

I'll attach a crappy cell pic for now. You can see the missing parking sensor cover on the bumper.

Congrats on the car man! Great color combo.

As far as this 9005 bulbs, I've read if you put those in, you will lose high beam functionality.
If you don't care about losing them, go for it. They are plug and play setup.

Thanks.

I'm going to order those LEDs. This will effectively wrap up my LED conquest on the car.

Saleen, did those bulbs work for ya? Any pic of it? That is a nice little touch for the DRLs I think.

Unfortunately no they didn't work. =/ I need some kind of adapter to make it work since it doesn't fit into the socket of the old bulb. I haven't been able to find the right adapter so I gave up.. at least for now. If I do find it someday I'll update the thread.

What I did instead was raise the highbeams up higher (same bulb as DRL) in effect making the DRL look brighter and 'newer' than before.

My high beams are amazing so I'd never want to loose them for a white DRL.

Highbeams are great to have on most cars... especially on my ES330. A must have at night, but the LS430's low beams are so impressive that I've never had to use the highbeams except for testing them out here and there. I raised up the low beams a bit more than the factory setting and it is very impressive my friend. No need for them.. for me at least.

For reference I live out in the sticks with winding roads and almost no city lighting on the roads I travel.
