Performance Dry Air Flow Filter
I am wondering if I can find a stock OEM size dry air filter for my 2005 LS430.
Actually there are lots of brands around (Blitz, TOMS, AEM, K&N) but I am not sure whether I will find one which fits directly in place.
Will the filter affect consumption at any level ?

I installed the K&N filter last week. Perfect fit right into the stock air box on my 2005.

One downside to filters that you re-oil is you have to be very careful not to over oil the filter, which is quite easy to do. Oil can then get onto the MAF sensor and reduce performance and MPG. Denso engine air filters are great quality and are not restrictive. I see no benefit for K&N over OEM Denso in the LS430. This is why I just run OEM.

I had the K&N drop in filter but became unsatisfied as all of us will eventually do and upgraded to a full K&N CAI.
Thankfully the filter also fit the 2000 GS400 in the stable (which now also has the CAI! )

That's another myth it seems. Cold air intakes without proper tuning, which of course can't be done with the stock Lexus computer. Most gain a tiny bit of high rpm horsepower but loose low end torque.
The fact that almost no dyno charts exist showing any HP / Torque gains is a testament. The only mod I would consider would be headers and even then a $1500 for 10 - 20 HP is not so impressive. Unlike my old Mustang GT and a few other cars I have owned and added performance parts, modifying the stock air intake system seems rather pointless on the LS's.

I must wholeheartedly disagree
The CAI made a huge difference when i put it on as was evident by the gulping intake noise which made the car as loud as any mustang GT even without my exhaust on! And the kick in the pants difference I felt even with the tall 1st gear.

I'm glad your experience is good. But you do realize that there is a reason why nobody shows dyno sheets right? What you think you feel and hear is totally subjective and is not scientific. This subject has also been discussed to death in the LS400 forums and the same conclusion has been reached. You don't actually get to 60 MPH any faster. Most of the time it actually slows the car down. Do you have any real data to backup your claims? How come nobody post dyno charts? Even the websites who make the products don't show any real data. Yeah, there is an obvious reason why... Just because the car feels and sounds different does not mean it's actually going any faster.

You sound angry, i'm not. lol!!
A lot of companies don't post dyno charts for many makes and models, and why would they for an LS430? The LS430 isn't a performance car that will make them a bunch of money like the rest of the tuner cars out there.
I need to make a quick amendment to my above comment about K&N CAI, I actually had a Weapon-R CAI.

I'm not angry or mad. I just don't buy subjective fly by the seat of your pants opinion. I know what I'm talking about and I don't like misinformation. I have heavily modified various cars and had them custom tuned and know all about the industry. The reality is that adding a cold air intake to all the LS's does nothing for real performance numbers. If people like the sound it makes then more power too them. Just don't make claims that your actually improving a cars performance without backing it up with real data. Unlike all the products that I purchased for other vehicles with real dyno comparisons and extensive testing. Tuning a car is the essential element that is missing on the LS (400, 430, and 460).
