Yeah I totally know what you mean - I'm about 90% happy with the outcome. I did think about trying to incorporate them into the fog lights to hide them but I have nice white HID fogs anyway. I would have had to remove the foglights, put them in the oven and bake them open to fit anything else inside it. I didn't want to risk ripping things apart, messing with wiring too much. Plus the foglights are naturally curved in shape meaning the light wouldn't have been completely forward facing. I thought about strip leds but there're just not bright enough and can look really cheap. It's hard to see from the pics but my DRLS are recessed in the vents so when you stand next to the car they don't stick out too much.

Old thread bump.

Check out my p-shop skills. Has anyone installed DRL LEDs in the areas i have shown in this pic? I'd love drl leds but i'd like them to be more oem looking.

So if you disable the factory DRL how do they turn on? Manual switch?

You need the Techstream software and a mini vci cable to turn them on and off.

It does work with x64 architecture. You just have to install drivers via command prompt. I wrote it somewhere in that techstream thread.

My question is, once you disable the factory DRL which is a dimmed high beam, how do your LED aftermarket DRLs turn on when the ignition switch is in the ON position?

Unless you rewire the setup for the fog lights they will not turn on without the headlights on. I have been thinking about the HID fog light upgrade but it just throws light all over the place. Sure it's a lot brighter but its actually rather inconsiderate to other drivers. I know a lot of people don't care but I do.

I still have not moved my Phillips kit. I have been so busy and it's going to be a pain to do. They are not in the ideal location but surprisingly I have received quite a few compliments and people asking what they are. One of these days I will remove the wheel well covers and mount them at the air vents for the brake ducts. Or maybe another location. Not sure yet. I also like how the Phillips kit does not require a on / off switch. It detects when the car is running and turns on and off via voltage from the alternator. They are nice units.
