Default New to the LS430 crowd

I just picked up a white and tan 01 LS430 from a good friend of mine for my daily. I'm new to the LS430, but definitely not to CL or the Lexus brand. Im not going all out on this one like I did my GS. My GS is my toy, this is my daily and im going to try my hardest to keep it that way.

Its replacing my 540i, thank god! I loved driving the 540, but damn that car always had an issue. I put more money into that car in the past year than the car itself was worth. Its going to be relieving to have back the reliability of a Lexus for my daily. First thing thats getting done before I even tag the car is the timing belt and flushing all of the fluids.

I bought some coilovers last week before I even bought the car. Im gonna throw some wheels on it come spring and call it a day. A drop, some new shoes, and drive it!

I would have some pics, but its snowing like a ****** out side here....

It's gonna be tough not to buy things for the LS... LOL. I bought mine as a daily driver and I've already done a few things to it in the short amount of time that i've owned it. You'll love the car so much you won't be able to not spoil it haha.

My previous car was also e39 540i. Your are right, it always had problems. The ls430 isn't as nimble as the 540 but trade off are comfort and reliability. I was really tempted to get another BMW until I visited BMW forums and read nothing but issues after issues. I'm not saying the ls430 is problem free. Enjoy your ride.

So I am and not the only one that wishes I could put that new 415hp V8 Lexus Mill (2UR-GSE)
in my 545 along with the less troublesome electronics?

I'm in the process of selling my e39 ///M5 for an LS430 for that exact reason; peace of mind. Down the road, when I've sold my businesses and am retired, I'll probably have another for my weekend car when I can afford to fix it every month, but right now

Now if I could just figure out how to justify the extra $5k for an '04 over the '01-03'....

My once faithful Indie Lexus Mechanic now has the BMW bug. He sees me due to the E60 much more often than the LS430 needs work.

I dont mind you sharing at all........and youre probably right. I dont think Ive ever stopped modding any vehicle Ive ever owned, cars, trucks, bikes.....always the same result.

Im going to really try to keep in mind what this car is supposed to function as. That being said, I dont have tags on it yet and Ive been scouring the LS forum educating myself, getting ideas, etc...

yeah, I took a bath on my 540i selling it, and it was running perfectly fine, but I had zero trust in the car. It sucked losing money selling it, but it was literally a relief letting it go.

I was looking for an 05-06 to buy, but my buddy gave me a good deal on this 01. I figured I would buy this and have no car payment. I will probably be able to drive this for a year or so then upgrade and get what I paid back out of the car.

You know, I was actually surprised on how affordable the early 460's are these days. Ive heard some 460 owners complaining on what they considered a lack of build quality compared to their 05-06 LS' they owned though. Not that I would base my decision on a few individuals thoughts.

That being said, i love them. My buddy has a newer hyrbrid 460, that ***** is bad ***!

My GS broke my *** for awhile, so im going the cheap route for now!
