My new to me 2004 has version 3.2 installed. I see that you can now get version 13.1 from Sewell for about $170. What will the upgrade do? Will it just update the roads/routes/POIs, or will it change any of the graphics? Will anything look different?

Just update the roads/routes/POI...nothing will look different.

Check eBay for some of the incremental updates. You will find versions other than the latest at much lower prices.
