car looks great! I always clay my car but bought a new nanoskin clay alternative to try.. Join the forum Autogeekonline.net They are a sponsor on here I believe. You will be amazed at what you learn if you are not familiar with heavy duty detailing.

Great looking LS. The clear coat on the LS seems to respond really well to yearly clay bar treatment. Car needs to be super clean before you use clay - some folks use dish washing liquid like Dawn as the soap before clay because DW soap strips grease and any wax off the paint. Then clay using a good detailer lubricant and seal/wax.

Agree on the tint suggestion - LS430s need some tint on the windows to look their best...doesn't have to be dark, a light tint really improves the car's general look.

It is not as common in colder areas, but in Texas my guess is that 90% of LS430s have tint applied when they are sold new by dealer - so it is a little weird to see pics of an LS without tint.

Had a black and silver '91 LS 400, used to clay the car and it did make a big difference. Seemed to remove the diamond scratches and like you say it cleaned the paint very well. What exhaus tips will you use?

Agreed. I give my car a quick wash using my regular stuff. Then get a separate bucket with the same car soap and water [higher concentration of soap this time since it glides easier], claybar using that. Then one final wash/dry. Results are phenomenal. And if I'm feeling up to it a quick polish with a decent wax.

I personally think the quick detailer is a waste to use, not to mention time consuming. This way you dip the clay in the bucket and keep at it, or even pour a little soapy water down a panel as needed.

yea good idea, this way you can keep cleaning the claybar after each use, making it last much longer.

I went through my first one way too quick using just the detailer.

Even that is more than okay, I got lazy after two clay bar sessions, since squeezing the trigger so much kills the wrist!

It's amazing what those clay bars remove, I'd love to have the time to do my vehicles or find someone reasonable I could pay to do it for me.

A friend that worked in the body shop industry did my hood, and made me a believer.

No. If you look into the detailing threads in the detailing forum, one of the vendors shows their work.

Their process is always; wash, clay, wash, buff, [wax], apply dressings.
