I had the Dunlops on my 2004 LS with 17" wheels, the former owner had replaced them not too long before I bought the car.

I had to replace them because chunks of the tires were coming off, it was really strange. I thought it might be an alignment issue (even though it drove straight and the chunks were all over, not just one side) but when I took it in, they shop said it was dead on. I'm very **** about tire rotations and having the right pressure.

I replaced them with the Michelin MXV4s, and love them. They definitely ride smoother than the Dunlops (and have sharper handling).

I may have just gotten a bad batch with the Dunlop 5000s, but Michelins aren't much more money, I think it's a no brainer. So many people here are happy with their Michelins.

Hankook makes a nice tire as well. So are the Nitto Motivo's. What's available varies from size to size though. I'm not a big fan of Dunop or Pirelli vs Michelin, Goodyear, and Bridgestone.

Should have read back, the OP has stated he came from Dunlops and only ran 21k on them. That pretty much rules them out. They are not cheap either, $200 a tire.

I think I do get flatspotting after even sitting a couple of days. It irons out in a couple blocks out of the subby. Don't think my Comfortreds did that but V for V the Michelin is a better tire subtle flatspot included.

I think the Dunlops did disintergrate poorly with age, real brittle, chunks came off.

Costco. Everything is included in the price I quoted as paying. They will rotate and balance your tires whenever you desire. I do it every 5000 miles. If it isn't to my satisfaction, they will do it over. Also, and this is big, Costco will prorate your tires if they wear out before the warranty mileage. I don't think people realize this, but that can be a good rebate on replacement.

I leave my car sitting for 5 - 15 days often in long term parking when I travel. I have no problems with flat spotting on the Michelin's.

I will be interested if anyone drives the new Pilot A/S 3 Plus I think it is called and can elaborate on crisper handling versus ride comfort.

I got a set of Michelin Primacy MXM4's for my girlfriends car and I think they are great. Ride nice and are quiet.
I'm not sure how they would do in the winter, she has a separate set of winter wheels and tires.

I put Goodyear Comfort Treds (Comfort Assurance) on my 05 ls430 and so far ive driven 45K miles and they still have a lot of meat on them. They also ride excellent and quiet. They cost me $900 + but I signed up for a goodyear credit card and they gave me a $160 rebate so I think I paid $850 with zero interest for 6 months. And I drive hard (100MPH on the interstate), They are excellent tires and worth paying the $ up front. 60k mile tire.
