Blown ML Subwoffer, Replace or upgrade...what did you do and how? HELP!

You got a steal, kodi. May I ask how much you paid for the sub? What condition was the replacement? a/d/s makes incredible gear, but most of the stuff I find is pretty old. Right now I am just going to refoam the subwoofer surround with the kit from simplyspeakers, but eventually I will drop something of higher quality in. If I had found a high quality, 8" dual 6 ohm driver I'd **** my pants and hit buy it now... then hop in the shower.

The same guy had 3 or 4 of the 8 " subs I bought mine for 105.00 He also had a few a/d/s
component sets.Mine came with the grill and looked close to new.My front door speakers were blown too, so i went with the 6 1/2" Eminence Eminator from parts express. 8 ohms and @ 30.00 a piece a great replacement. You do need 1" spacers for the front speakers.

I used a kicker cvr 8 running in 8 ohm with a rockford fosgate amp. i just used a line output converter and tapped off the original subwoofer cables. i used the original space for the sub in the deck, it had to be drilled directly into the deck. I did it this way to keep the load off of the orignal ML amp. sounds a lot better but i had to put a bass **** because on some songs there is too much bass.

There are plenty of good write up in here on how to get the back seat and speaker it’s self out. However, I could not get my rear back deck to come out but there is enough room to get the woofer out without removing the rear deck. Once I had the speaker out I typed the Lexus part number in to yahoo I think and came up with Simply Speakers in St. Petersburg Florida. Sent the woofer to them, had it back in less than 2 week turnaround. It was $70 to repair and test or somewhere around there.
I’m guessing there are cheaper places to re-foam and I could have tried to re-foam myself. I just had an overwhelming lack of desire to try it. I was happy with Simply Speakers turn around, price and warranty.

Did the refoam 3 years ago and the rattle is back. Time to go for a new OEM subwoofer as the cone is already sundamaged. The weakest link in LS430 ownership is the audio system. Too bad, because it is expensive to work on.

Although this thread is years old, are there owners who have replaced the OEM ML subwoofer with any aftermarket subwoofer, keeping the original amp that are satisfied with no issues after a long period of time?
