I just Shin Etsu'd my door seals

I've done mine awhile ago as well. If the creaking comes back, it's usually during the colder weather.

So, nice day, family away for the weekend, I did mine. I started by cleaning the seals all around the car with soapy water as I waited for USPS to deliver the Shin Etsu (was out for delivery). If there was a rubber seal in the car, it was cleaned (motor, doors, windows, sunroof, trunk, etc).
I used rubber gloves, the nice thing about this, if I tried to rub against the seal, I could not move smooth across it. so when I applied it, I would make sure I could go smooth across it, on all sides of the seals (pinching them as I go). Got every piece of the car seals, nice solid coating on each of them. It took about an hour and 1/2 to do. It was not bad as I thought.
The real test is next week when I go back to work. I hope this takes care of the wind noise I was starting to get, as it was getting annoying.
I was going to take it for a ride but, D'oh, I had the radio on while I was doing it (with the nav screen on) and I killed the battery !!!! With the family away, I have no one to jump the car...ugh..
Oh well, will test it out next week ....

Time to order a battery tender. Your seals are thanking you. Bathed in industrial lotion.

It's much better for the battery if you can charge it with a battery charger after you drain it really low. Have it tested either way but the way an alternator charges is different then a external unit. Killing a battery is actually one of the easiest ways to ruin a battery. The external chargers slowly recharge until it's full vs the alternator try to charge and run accessories. Better for the life of the battery.

When I was working on the car to do all the seals, My car doors were open for about 3 hours (USPS normally comes around 12:30-1 on Sat but, they didn't show up till almost 4), so that put the big hit on the battery(never mind the radio on for about an hour or so). Then I was playing with the navi (did the GEN4 upgrade this weekend too), and that was the nail in the coffin.
After doing the seals, I took the car up to about 45 and so far, I am blown away, no wind noise and about the only outside noise I can hear is a little from the tires on the road (newer roads it almost goes away). Seems to have made a world of difference but, wont be 100% till I get her up to 70 or so....
