Missing Shade Hooks on the Window Garnish
My 04 UL had missing shade hooks on the window garnish in one of the rear windows. How the h**l does that happen? The PO must have had them removed for some obscure reason. Actaully the PO used the car as a kiddy shuttle and I'm guessing had them removed after the little brats played with it too much. Just a guess, of course.
I wanted my shade hooks and staring at two square holes bugged me.
I ordered a new garnish from PartsDotCom and was set to pull the door panel. I know it's not too difficult but I figured an easier way. The top of the garnish pulls away from the door frame if pulled gently giving access to the two holes. Unscrewed the hooks from the new garnish and with a little finesse was able to properly mount them to the old garnish which was in nice shape anyway. If it was scuffed and scratched I would have pulled it but I don't need extra work.
Make sure the "L" in the bracket is towards you and not the window or it won't go back in place correctly and bulge.
I was a little miffed I had to buy the whole garnish but it was (only) $65. I asked myself if I would have paid $17.50 a hook if they sold them separately and the answer was, well, yes.
Looks like new. Hope it saves someone the work
