Just an update. Finally got a chance to replace all the filters. I ordered the OEM Denso front cabin filter from Amazon as well as an aftermarket rear cabin filter. The OEM rear cabin filter is such a rip off. Don't know why it is so insanely expensive from Lexus. Anyway here are some pics for the front and back seat filters. The others came from Lexus of South Atlanta and the part numbers are above. I did not bother in taking pics of the main cabin filters and the rear sill as they are super easy to do and self explanatory

In the front, it does help to remove the floor mats. Just move the seat almost all the way forward and at high as it will go and you will see the filter towards the front of the seat on the side closer to the gear shift. The rear ones are very easy to do. Just move the seats all the way forward and you will see them closer to the door side side of the seat.

The first pic is the rear seat, second is the front, and 3rd is the old set. You can see the fronts seats were the worst. Sills really did not need new ones but replaced anyway.

But you left out the most important bit - did changing the seat filters help with the cooling? If so, how much and for how long?

Thanks and sorry for resurrecting this old thread but I'm a new owner and my 'cooling' seats aren't. Just wondering if its worth the $60 to replace the filters.

I cleaned my seat filters with a vacuum and it didn't seem to make a difference. I too am wondering if replacing them will make a difference

All this chatter about front seat filters got me interested. I ordered new filters from Sewell and attempted to replace my old dirty ones. Unless you're young and double jointed, it's kind of difficult to get under the seats to release those filter tabs. I am going to try for the second time today while I am fresh and still feeling limber. Wish me luck!

Remove floor mats and move seat as high and forward as possible. I replaced mine when I purchased the car and it made a small but notable difference in the front. They were the dirtiest

Okay, so I checked the seat filters and they are clean, no need to replace them.

Upon investigation, I can hear the fans in the seats spinning and if I take my shirt off, can feel the air coming through. (It's okay to get that visual out of your mind now).

The issue doesn't appear to be a lack of airflow, at least not in my case. I believe it is one of poor design of the Peltier coolers under the seat. They are simply not producing enough cooling efficiency, unlike say the 2014 GS loaner I had the other day which about froze my butt off.

Looking through different forums, this appears to be a well documented issue. I was hoping for better, particularly living here in hot and humid Florida.

I'm going to try driving both with and without them and determine just how much difference they do actually make and I'm also going to put some foam into the gap under the seat at the back to see if that diverts more air from the a/c into the under-seat vents.

I'll report back.

I'm intrested to hear back your experience Phil(my name is Phil too). I wonder if the cooling can be modded in any way to provide more airflow.

You can use plastic or rubber tubing to route air from the floor vents underneath the driver / passenger seat back to the air inlet on the seat. If you set the a/c to dual (floor and vent) it does seem to help the seat coolers a little. I have not tried the tubing idea because I am satisfied with the performance of my seats.

Stupid question, but do I need to have it set to dual for the seats to get the air? I almost never use dual so maybe that's my problem?

No you don't have to but it helps push cooler air towards the seats. It makes it a little more efficient.

Not sure if you're talking about the LS430, but my experience is just the opposite of yours.

I replaced both front seat air filters (and posted on thread & uploaded before & after pics) and could tell absolutely zero/none/nada/nothing/no difference whatsoever. I won't waste my time on buying filters for the front seats again.

Hate to rain on your parade but my candid prediction is that you won't feel any difference at all. If I could return my filters to Sewell after I purchased them & installed them I would have!
