Where to buy the oil control valve besides lexus dealership?
Just like it says, can this part be purchased at Autozone or pep boys? I will replace them both today if yes.

Are you getting trouble codes or loss of power requiring you to do this oil controll valve replacement? I recently changed out all spark plugs with OEM Desnso Iridiums and am still getting 2 missing cylinder codes. My next step is to do the coils that go on the plugs, but I have heard of oil control valve failure causing power loss as well. The car runs fine, but you can still tell that it has less power and engine light will sometimes flash while in an idled state. I believe there are 2 oil control valves.
Any info as to what is going on with yours would be good to hear. Thx

flashing check engine is cylinder misfire. most likely nothing to do with vvti.
there are special 'vvti fault' error codes, that require you to replace the vvti oil control valve/s.

when my ocv needed replacing on my 98 ls, the engine ran incredibly rough at idle, but was fine under load. Those same symptoms happened a few years before that (when I didn't have time to look into this issue myself) and my mechanic at the time claimed it was the vvt controller and charged me $ 1300 to fix it. The ocv cost me a little over $100 to replace myself.

it's not a DIY diagnosis...
and yes, vvti control valve fault will throw check engine and may/may not affect driveability. it didn't in my case - just a code. but i replaced it next day, cos i don't drive broken cars =)

guys yea the oil control valve can only come from a dealer, and yes it is a simple fix for the 1349 code that i was throwing. I am now throing a different code 0430, for inefficient catalyst reading, so time for a new passenger cat!

yup that's the code - thanks for remembering it! p1349 is for bank 2 if i remember correctly...
btw you can 'postpone' cat replacement by installing angled o2 sensor spacer(s)

something LIKE that above. please don't go and just buy that one. you'd better measure the space available first.
lift the car and look for downstream sensors (after cats). you will need to put these 'spacers' between each o2 sensor and exhaust pipe. it's tight there! i had to improvise with welder, but i did not have access to stuff like i put from ebay (angled spacer).
