LS430 without power to subwoofer only?
I've owned my 2004 LS430 (without Mark Levinson) for about a month now (87K miles) and have noticed that the oem subwoofer is not torn, but also not producing any sound, even with the bass **** maxed. The door speakers work perfectly at all volumes. I was expecting at least a rattling and torn subwoofer when I purchased this car, but the woofer itself looks like it was barely used, probably because it never had power to it. Is there a way to quickly enable the sound again from the sub or is this normal on the non-Mark Levinson's?

I have the same problem with mine. The sub will come in randomly once in a while. I feel like it is either a loose wire or there is something wrong with the stock amp. My sub is not torn and works perfectly when I hooked up it to test it outside of the car. I have the ML system though.
I'm thinking about using a crossover to get the lows from one of the speaker channels to emulate bass since I can't figure it out.

I just installed the Beatsonic SLA-24A kit with a Pioneer AVH-X35000BHS double din, but still no sound to my sub. I've even checked the sub harness connection as well as underneath the cone for loose wires, but nothing out of the ordinary. I'm curious if other non-ML owners at least have sound coming from their subs.

My 01 ML has been acting up too. I turn it on in the morning and it doesn't work. Get off work and it works. Later at night it doesn't work. The only think I can tell is that its hot in the car after work and thats the only time it works. I feel like there may be something loose or just not making good connection somewhere. I tore the trunk apart and checked everything there so I guess the next thing is to take out the rear seats and see if anything is going on there. After that, I think I'm gonna take out the center din panel and see if its coming from there.
I'm determined to chase this thing down...

I have the same problem on a 2000 LS... no sound at all from the subwoofer, but all the other speakers work fine. Not sure how to determine if it's the sub or the amp... how much voltage should be sent to the sub? Can you measure it?

Reviving my old thread. Finally got around to inspecting my OEM subwoofer and I found out the previous owner of my car had installed a Mark Levinson sub when it should've been the OEM Pioneer one. When I took a closer look at the connector pins, the ML sub only has 2 pins where my Pioneer amp harness requires 4. I'll probably end up getting a new OEM Pioneer sub and selling this ML sub until I come up with a way to wire up an aftermarket sub to my amp harness.
