Agreed. Why would you rebuild a busted/faulty transmission when you can find a quality used model on ebay for much less. If your transmission is already proven to be faulty, then I would rather scrap it completely and take my chances with a used tranny because these things were made to be bullet proof and I doubt you would run into another lemon of a tranny.

● doing the "Burt Reynolds" (dropping it into drive after backing up, before car comes to a complete absolute stop)
● overheating (such as in the case of a blocked transmission cooler)
● running with transmission fluid too low for an extended period (just around the block is not going to kill it)

It really depends on the skills of the tranny shop and the damage. So you get it for 600-1k on ebay, then you have to install it and then you worry about the warrantee. I am sure there is a a "Rays" in every town you just have to look and listen and ask around.
E Bay is prolly a good deal but if it was me and I knew a "Rays" in town that would be my choice. Rebuilding tranny's to these guys is like buttering bread, their shop is spotless and they know all the upgrades/bulletins.

Hi, is this in Monroe, NC and not Charlotte, NC? I need Tranny service. Need a torque converter clutch as mine is locking up. The dealership has recommended I get a new transmission for my 04 Lexus LS 430 $4-5K. Please advise, thanks. BTW, how does one private message on here?
