Help Transmission Issues Help
Today I jumped on interstate 40 and was merging into traffic. My car shifted into second gear and never would come out. I was running down the interstate at 5k rpm until i could jump right back off the interstate. I turned the car off and turned it back on. It went back on with no issues and shifted fine. What issue could I have?
I just moved to Raleigh, NC and I don't have a mechanic that I know. I am hesitant to take it to the dealership. I don't want to get raked over the coals and have a hefty unnecessary repair.
What could the potential problem be? And does anyone here know a good mechanic in Raleigh, NC?
Thank you in advance.

04 is the "sealed tranny."
Sounds like a valve body issue or electrical issue in that scenario.
Chances are it's just a one off freak valve body bock and has cleared itself.

2005 with 110 miles - Your AT is sealed uint, no dipstick. If it were my car I'd have my ATF replaced by a lexus or toyota dealer. They can hook it up to a machine that completely replaces all the fluid but does not do a power flush (power flush can sometimes cause problems). Lexus says ATF is sealed and "lifetime" ATF fluid - I think that is BS unless you want to replace worn out AT at approx 140-200k miles on average. I intend to replace ATF fluid on my 06 LS every 50 k miles.

i guess i shouldnt say flushed.i had the fluid replaced with the machine at a toyota dealership.i have noticed that the tranny shifts much smother and changing from park to drive is now almost seamless.
