Default #1 spot by Car and Driver 2003 comparo

I was bored after Thanksgiving, so I wanted to be more thankfull for my car, and I found this article from Dec 2003 Car and Driver:

Enjoy!

The S430 sucked in my opinion, especially compared to the LS and 745i. It's not surprising to see the LS at the top.

In the S defense, that generation stunk and it was the last year of that cycle, while the LS was just getting a mid cycle refresh. And a good refresh it was.

That's true. I actually love the S Class from back then. The S600 and S55 were awesome, but the S430 sucked.

The LS's mid-cycle refresh really helped though.

I remember driving the corporate S500 from I believe '95 and thinking what a solid tank it was compared to then first Gen LS400, but as the LS got better the S started to tank. The LS is at the point where it's just as good as any S or 7 to me and I would not jump ship for any of those.

Pay for some maintenance on those big German sedans and you will wish you had gotten the big Toyota.

My neighbor recently asked "So how's the Mercedes doing?" -- and I realized -- they do sort of LOOK alike to the uniformed.....

Yes, the LS430 does look A LITTLE like the early-mid 90's MB S class, especially the rear, and the Ford 500 (ugh). I'm sure all cars look alike to Stevie Wonder.
