Default Diff fluid change

Thanks for the great advice.
It seems that some owners think the fluid should be changed every 30k miles or so, while others think a longer interval would be just fine. My 2001 LS430 came with a pretty complete maintenance history, but each inspection isn't broken down to state what work was actually performed. Is changing the differential fluid a regular dealer-performed maintenance thing? If maintenance was performed at every interval, can I take it for granted that the fluid was changed up to this point? What do you think?
Thanks again.

Default Fluid change and age

Thanks for the reinforcement towards changing my own diff. fluid. It does sound like a basic DIY job, but I'm 61 y/o now and not as limber or eager to get under cars as I once was, nor do I have the tools I once had . There was a time when I used my garage to pull/rebuild the engine out of a 1981 Corvette, and upgrade the cam in a 1965 Mustang, but those days are pretty much gone.

Let me ask this. In visiting my local Lexus dealer the other day, to get a printout of the options on my specific car and familiarize myself with the dealership, it struck me as odd that the dealership work area looked as clean as a surgery room, but I have read dissappointing reviews of some of the nations Lexus dealership repairs. Can this Club Lexus site start a separate area where owners can rate their local dealerships and specific mechanics. It seems that it would help us, and the dealerships, to know who is performing good repairs and who isn't. Just a thought.

Thanks
