Looking at a 2001 ls430 right now online, it's got 171,000 miles and there asking around $9350, I'm gonna try go talk them down but what should I try to get it for? Or does anyone think it has too many miles?

If it has been taken care of and brakes, tires belts, suspension componentry is fine sounds like ya could get another 50 k out of it easy. Without a perfect documented track record, thorough Lexus inspection I would pass.

I just paid 9500 for an UL with 150k miles. Perfect maintenance history. For sure will get 150k more out if her easily.

170k is nothing for the ls430 powertrain.....what you have to be worried about is the timing belt and suspension components. Timing belt is due aprox. 1000$. Brakes are an easy job..there's a tutorial here ...I have done them myself. Its worth the money if clean and everything works

You wont touch an LS with under 100K for anywhere near $9,000 unless its beat or there's a hidden issue. If it all checks out well, its a fair price but if you put a lot of miles on a year you have to take that into consideration as too how many years you can expect to get out of it. The car should go 250K + with regular maint. done to it.

+1 Unless the LS430 is a disaster, it's extremely difficult to find anything under 10 grand with under 100K.
