If this is a redundant post please accept my apologies. I recently purchased a 2006 Lexus RS430 with Navigation and a Mark Levinson sound system from a Cadillac dealer. The vehicle has a small antennae on the roof, not a shark fin style and the audio has a button that says AM/SAT. We asked the salesman if it had satellite radio and he responded he was sure it did. We took it for a test drive and I could not find any satellite menu. When we asked the salesman he said it was because it is a used vehicle and we would have to activate the service to have before we would see it on the display screen. I am beginning to think the vehicle does not have satellite which surprises me given the Mark Levinson system and the fact it has as antennae on the roof. Is there a way to determine if it actually has satellite installed or perhaps I am just missing something?
Sorry for the long post but I wanted to provide as much detail up front as I could. Appreciate any assistance!

Even if the service is not activated, when you push the AM/SAT button it should cycle to the SAT option and show that the satellite module is installed. It sounds like it is not installed on this car. It is several hundred dollars to get it installed.

Thanks for the response! I was afraid that was the answer. I officially pick up the car today....could be some further negotiating as that was a feature we were looking for.

I installed the iSimple system in my LS. It has both iPhone and satellite integration. Quite easy to install (you actually MUST read the manual). No special tools needed and the results are worth the hour to install it.

Right now the dealer and I are negotiating on a price. I will definitely looking into the iSimple system if the dealer and I cannot come to an agreement. Appreciate the feedback!

I'm in the same boat with my GX and LS. Nothing happens when I press the SAT button on both cars. I may look into a Vaistech setup so I can also hookup my MP3 player.

e-bay has dozens of ML amps for sale. I have 00LS430 . Do I need an exact year model amp or can I upgrade the year?

You can go at least to 2003 ML amp. I don't know if '04 - '06 is the same amp. Even if you could, not sure what the value would be to "upgrade" to a '04 - '06 ML amp.
