What did you pay for your recent LS430 purchase?
#241
A year ago, after an accident caused me to consider trading my 05 Toyota Avalon Limited, I considered getting the Infinity q45, the BMW 740il, and the Mercedes 500. I'd owned each before, and while waiting for the sale person to get the key for a very well kept 740il, I noticed a Lexus 430 a few cars down. Against my better thought, I bought the Lexus. They were asking $10999, and I paid $10900. I knew I was over paying, but I liked both the interior and exterior(millennium silver with rosewood and black leather). The mileage was 132000, and having had other Toyota cars, I felt the repairs needed(bushings, motor mounts, blown sub, and driver door lock) were all due to wear that should've been done years ago. It had no records, but I felt once I did the repairs, I'd have a very good car for many years and miles. I later found that it also needed a motor for the pass outside mirror, tires, and the timing belt. I budgeted $4000 to get it to where it would be like new. I should've paid $1500 less, but I didn't want to wait. Oh, I liked that it had the premium 18'' Lexus wheels. I wasn't understanding that the subwoofer was such an issue. Its the 2002 custom level. So far, I feel satisfied.

Car is immaculate inside. Small rust spot and minor paint imperfections. Dealer replaced timing belt and water pump already. They also replaced the battery, replaced brake pads and resurfaced rotors. Car has heated and cooled front seats and heated rear seats.
I bought it to replace my 2003 Toyota Avalon XLS which is currently running strong but has 217,000 miles on it

I've been eyeing the car ever since it showed up at my local Toyota dealer. It sat in their lot for about 3 months. They were desperate to get rid of it. Their original asking price was $14,500, I ended up leaving with the car for 8900. My belief is the car sat there, unsold for so long because perspective buyers discovered the problems with the radio and the lights. They were probably scared of having to fit the bill on repairing a flagship luxury car. The car was in really good condition, the rear bumper has a little crease in it, and there are a few scratches in the paint. I had a couple electrical gremlins to hunt down, and found the radio needs to be replaced, and the map lights don't. I haven't bothered looking for the source of that problem, because I'm making the dealer fix it.

More than likely, regardless of the age of our cars, the first generation (2001-2003) will probably settle around ($6,000-$9,000) regardless of miles within the next few years. The 2004-2006 might be approximately $5,000 higher. Considering that 4 years ago the price difference between 1st and 2nd generation LS430s were 8-10K, the gap is coming down. Of course....this is only one opinion.

Pole Position
I traded my 05 LS430 and some cash for my recent purchase of an 08 LS460. The dealer game me $15K for the car (He started at $13K). It had 74,000 miles. By trading it, I saved over a grand on the taxes of the new car.
