Question for Lynzoid:

Can you please give us a short thumbnail explanation of what it is and what you did about it? I will search and find your threads for the details but I believe it is the same issue that causes the brake fluid to turn black. Are you saying all or some of the pistons within the brake caliper are contaminated and not working properly, therefore they need to be rebuilt using the OEM kit? How does this relate to the low pedal? Thank you in advance.

Sludge is compressable. Source of sludge in cylinders - deteriorating brake hoses. Sorry, but currently i have no time to explain, as i already did in my posts on this forum abour a year ago.

Lynzoid....for the cylinder seals, are you talking about the caliper piston seals? How much did the OEM caliper seals kit cost for both front and rears? Would you happen to have the part number? Thanks for the info.

Brakes have been bled with no air coming out. My fluid coming out was clear like vegetable oil color and not darked colored at all. Driver front showed a few small specs (about 3 specs) of black particles coming out when bleeding that line. All others were nice and clear. Line and master shows no signs of fluid leak. Pads and caliper area dry with no signs of sludge buildup. I just ordered from irontoad a set of the OEM front and rear brake caliper rebuild kit which comes with only the piston seals. Will post results after they arrive and installed.

Update...I rebled my master cylinder using the Cardone brand syringe tool and now the brake pedal feels a lot better and does not go way down to the floor anymore. It is low but not down to the floor like before the rebleed. I am still going to change out the rotors with new ones and rebuild the calipers soon.

Help ! Have to double pump brakes to stop LS 430 2003. Replaced rear pads also. Was ok for a month. Now what can I do to remedie problem ? Thanks ragger

Doing brakework oneself seems like a very big risk, especially for new DIY'ers. I always take mine to a shop that does brakes. If the brakes do weird things (can't recall that ever happening to me after a professional brake job), I'd hold the shop accountable.
I don't mean to diss DIY'ers, but we gotta wonder how many faulty-brake vehicles are out there..

Brakes on an LS430 are among the easiest to do yourself. Buy OEM parts and do it yourself or take it to someone who will install OEM parts. Brake shops use the cheapest aftermarket crap they can get.

There might be air in your brake lines. I'd do a full bleed of your entire brake system with fresh DOT3 fluid. Any DOT3 fluid will do from a sealed container. I recently did my entire brake fluid flush as preventative maintenance. It is a pretty simple DIY or any mechanic can do it for you as well. That'd be the first thing I'd look at when encountering an episode like yours.

I posted my issue with my LS 430 2003. I changed pads twice. Both were good quality, second pads purchased with new rotors. Installed rotors. By a pro ASE shop.
Took to the best Lexus dealer. They suggested new rotors, and pads 4- wheels.
I agree with guy, who stated its not master cylinder. I replaced mine. The only good part is when I replaced rotors, and pads it was firm pedal for 2 months. Only thing is calipers ? My second Lexus. Never had this before. I want to trade it off, due to braking. Otherwise it's a great car. 144xxx. Purrs like a cat. Note ! Calipers cost over $300 each. Kit is cheaper. Help ! Thanks.....
