Default Custom Luxury leather...

I saw a note that Caddy posted a while back about comfort leather vs Napa.... If I have an 04 CL (Ecru interior) then I take it I have the comfort leather. Is this semi aniline leather? Is it a true upgrade over the standard leather seats? Thanks....

The 2004 spec sheet shows 2 interior upgrades:
Interior Upgrade Package with Black or Bordeaux Semi Aniline Leather Trim
Interior Upgrade Package with Ecru Nappa Leather Trim

For the CL and UL you had to get one or the other depending on your exterior color.
So apparently Ecru is not semi aniline but I think you have more leather than the standard.
The sticker for my 05 says saddle comfort leather. it was only for the CL or UL.

In 04-06, CL and UL trim levels came with one of two required upgraded leather packages as printed on the sticker: comfort leather (ecru or saddle) or semi aniline (black). Some posts and documents call the comfort leather nappa. IIRC, the semi aniline upgrade was more expensive than the comfort.

Caddyowner is right. Taken from the 2005 LS430 brochure:
IN 2100 Interior Upgrade Package with Black Semi Aniline Leather Trim, requires LP, LQ, UL, or UN
IR 1460 Interior Upgrade Package with Ecru or Saddle Leather Trim, requires LP, LQ, UL, or UN

I think analine and semi-analine are all about the dye and coating. My experience is that semi-analine are "harder" leathers, like the base leather but with deeper color. The comfort leather feels a lot softer. It's all about which you prefer.

My 2004 Lexus brochure states : "Option Code IN Interior Upgrade Package with Black or Bordeaux Semi Aniline Leather Trim, requires LP or UL". The price was $2,100.

It also states: "Option Code IR Interior Upgrade Package with Ecru Nappa Leather Trim, requires LP or UL", priced at $1470.

Therefore, saddle leather is Semi Analine.

The brochures on toyotareference.com shows bordeaux through 2003 and just black, saddle, & ecru in 04-06 on CL and UL models. Bordeaux was listed as aniline leather in the brochure.

This isn't worth getting into an argument but I may see the misunderstanding. The quotes I posted are directly from the Lexus/Knowledge Center, which allows an owner to look at past vehicles.

In the case of the '04, it may be noted that the options do not use the word "comfort" leather. I have a copy of an '01 UL window sticker. I notice that it lists the option "Interior Pkg w/Comfort Leather" at a price of $1,460.00.

It looks like they may use the word "Comfort" to define either of the two leather types on the window sticker and that would let the price determine which of the two types are installed on the vehicle.

If that makes sense, then nobody is really "wrong" with their comments, we just don't have all the information that is available.

Sorry about the misunderstanding.

It looks like the exact wording and color options changed slightly between years and the sticker text was also slightly different from the brochure.
Different strokes...

I totally agree. My 04 UL's leather is black, semi aniline, and it's really hard!!! I've owned 4 Lexi before this and none have been this hard or uncomfortable.

Don't want to kick a man when he's down but mine is as soft and smooth as a fine dancer's inner thigh.

The leather on my 02 shows no signs of wear and is very comfortable. I don't know what type it is but I like it.
