Totaled LS430 UL - What are the chances??
So I own an 04' I believe ML. Obviously im super jealous that I dont have a UL and mainly because of the back seat features.
My goal...
Find a Totaled UL and take out the back seats and Cooler....
My two questions...
1. Is this an easy swap?? besides electrical would there need to be any cutting etc?
2. Has anyone ever even seen these items being parted out.
Thanks for the support guys.

That's a lot of work. You'd have to swap the entire rear air unit over to make everything functional, since it cools the fridge and supplies the rear climate zone. The radio controls might not integrate either. It would obviously be a fake and would come off as super-poser to have all that stuff not working.
It would probably be cheaper to just swap to a UL and then you get all the other stuff too.

Do you chauffeur passengers that would value those features? If not, I wouldn't worry about them. I've never ridden in the back seat of my car and probably never will.

The cooler isn't worth messing with IMO unless you already have it.
The rear A/C unit is a big win even for front seat passengers, especially in warm climates, as it adds cooling and air filtering capacity to the entire cabin (separate large air filter with optical sterilizer that moves a lot of air - where the rear speakers would normally be on the deck are the air purifier inlet and outlet). But at that rate I'd just sell your car and find a UL to buy, it'd be a lot easier and cheaper in the long run.

The UL rear cooling involves a lot more than the "cooler". The cooler is just a box where some of the rear A/C is diverted into. The main rear A/C is a separate unit with condensor and fan utilitzing freon piped from the engine bay to the rear. It then provides A/C air which is ducted to vents above each rear door. Trying to install all that from a UL to a non-UL would be a nightmare in my opinion.

im really only looking for the seat functions such as reclining and massage features.. i could live without the cooler if thats an ordeal.
What i am saying is can i just swap the rear seats from car to car without doing any cutting or modding.
lastly:
I personally am tired of hearing ppl say why would u do crap for the rear cabin, i get it. but some of us like to chill on the weekends with our boys and lets face it, not a bad way to hit a club. esp cause im never DD.

Everything will bolt in, you will need to run the harness from radio/ac controls to the fusebox/radio/ac.
Furthermore, if you opt to run the cooler, you will need to run the ducting, as said above, if you want all the ac ducting, you will need to run new door cards, everything.
I wish I could find a UL at a jy, I would attempt getting some of this stuff, as well as the rear sunshade and retrofit into mine.
Hopefully more ls430s will start showing up at junkyards, then we can start seeing/doing more work.

i was looking for one small piece to the sideview mirror and called around to like 6 or 7 junkyards and always got the same response when i asked if they had any ls430's... "what, LS430,,, hahaha no way, we've never gotten any of those IN HERE". so where are the junk yards that get lexus's that crash? i mean they have to go somewhere right?

Larger auto recyclers are connected nationally and can source products by their Hollander number. If you figure out that it's possible and identify all the parts, a recycler can probably tell you if you can get the parts.
Remember, the leather colors - aside from black, are different in the UL and CL trim levels. The leather texture, including black, will also be different. Also, the front wall of the trunk is in a different location in the UL v. other trim levels. You may want to search out some pics of UL tear downs on the forum and get an idea of what's inside the space between the seat and trunk.
It sounds like you have a use for the UL trim level and I agree with the others that swapping the entire car would be the most effective solution.

Thanks for all the useful info guys.
I was thinking the Leather type would look a little different as i know the UL uses a more premium texture.
As far as A/c Etc... like i said i was more focussed on swapping out the seats for power functions.
Also i have a rear shade... How on earth can i figure out what trim level i have?!?! lol. i dont have a monitor up front, just reg radio with the 6 cd changer. no headlight washers... but rear heated seats, rear shade...
I think i have the UWYKWTYH-L (You Wish You Knew What Trim You Had - Luxury)

If you have the non-nav radio and heated/cooled front seats and heated rear seats you have a Premium. (One step above the very rare base.) If you have ash (gray) or cashmere (tan) interior, it will not match the color of leathers in the UL (black, ecru (cream), and saddle (orange/brown)). As I mentioned earlier, the black interiors should match, but the feel of the leather will be different.

I know, right? My guess is that most wrecked LS's are re-built (with or without salvage titles) and re-sold to the public, as well as at auction. Which is exactly why we have to be so extremely careful when selecting which one to purchase.
