good news caddy! have you tried one of those vibrating car seats or shiatsu massagers?? nothing like a deep tissue massage! they have come a long way in making them thin and contourable to fit just about any car seat. it may only scratch the surface of your back issue, but just a thought.

I looked at a promising Toyota Tundra DoubleCab today, but ended up buying that LX in the link posted by CarGuy89. It's being delivered to the house tomorrow. Thanks for all the suggestions.

good choice, an lx is really the only thing a guy who likes his 430 could hope for. I have driven 2 of them and they seem like our cars but with a truck platform. I think you made a good choice, you would have never gotten used to the inside of the tundra.

As someone who has back issues and seen others with severe back issues treated successfully, I would recommend you consider massage therapy or acupuncture. The primary step is to get into a specialist and determine the source of the issue: muscle, spinal, ligament, etc. Physical therapy, yoga, massage therapy and acupuncture have done far more in my experience then surgery ever will. I witnessed a man arrive in a wheelchair and leave walking with a bounce in his step over a two week period at a great and experienced acupuncturist.
I would caution however, just as with any profession, there are excellent ones and there are quacks. Most insurance plans have at least some coverage for these alternative services also. As you have already experienced, deflating the lumbar’s also helps. I test drove and sat in hundreds of cars and suv's trying to find one that my back didn't hurt worse in. The LS430 blew everything out of the water within my limited financial and mileage budget, not to mention the car is so fun to drive I smile every time I get in. If fuel wasn't so pricy, I would have gone after an LX, however I love my LS. When I replace my Ford Escape, I believe the LX will be the vehicle I look for.

I've worked in VW & Audi (and other German cars, too) for years now, and would never wish a modern SUV from them upon anyone. Unlike Lexus, BMW, and many other companies with excellent track records & customer service - Audi & VW don't always give you a loaner when in for maintenance/warranty work. I strongly suggest staying Japanese or BMW, but to each his own

I should also add that my friend is QUITE fond of his Flex, and never goes out of town without it. The Porsches & BMW M's always stay home for any drive that will be more than an hour or two, and he could care less about it's appearance due to the comfort & reliability it provides. It still makes me gag, though haha.

I was going through the thread and as I read I was thinking...after driving an LS, nothing much is going to be better or satisfying even if there are physical restraints. The LX is excellent choice, even though you did not like it initially. The RX or anything similar would not have sufficed.

Hope you better soon and the LX's stance fits you better.

I just traded in a 2011 Mazda CX-9, and have to say that it was a very comfortable drivers seat. Min was the base / cloth seat.....the touring / grand touring models are leather with more seat adjustability. I did not need a vehicle that large, but the seat and driveability of the vehicle was very good.
