Is that a reasonable charge for time belt change?
I went to my local shop asking for estimation to change my time belt and other services.
The services are:
Time belt
Cam shaft seal left and right
Time belt idler
Water pump
Crank seal
Total cost $714 (labor only)
So, I is that a reasonable price, overprice? Any suggestions guys..
Thanks in advance

Buying My Own Parts; Having Lexus Do the Service
Never thought of ordering parts myself (from Sewell or anywhere else). 94LSon20 or anyone: are there any other good places from which to purchase parts if I'll need some service at some point?

I've ordered every replacement part for my LS from Sewell. And if your a CL member you get an even bigger discount! Ex/ strips on the roof..dealer wanted $180 a piece, I believe it cost me $240 total for both shipped.

It's probably ok to find out cost of the parts, but for the most part, if you are using a reputable shop, it might be worth while allowing them to make a few bucks on the parts so that they don't make any kind of stink if the job has issues after completed and you bought the parts. Some shops won't warranty work if you bring the parts.

I just dropped my LS off at the Toyota dealership and here is the price I got for the following. Timing belt, both idlers, tensioner, water pump, t stat, drive belt, tensioner for drive belt, I am paying $ 915 parts and labor. I thought it was a decent deal.

Did mine this weekend from dealer, $1200 for timing belt, serpentine belt, water pump. No idler or tensioners listed. I thought it was okay... got a loaner for the whole day and put on about 100 miles on it.

AlexusAnja - congrats on becoming a moderator! I just noticed the tag for you and Caddyowner. You are another great choice for a moderator - great posts and the voice of reason when it's needed. Dave

Greeting
Thank you Minnesota Dave. Glad to give my, honestly limited knowledge, of the LS430 and RX300 that I currently own. I try to give as much as I can... and glad you enjoy the candid answers.
