Despite what Lexus says, you might want to look at replacing the fuel level sensor.

When you have the combination meter set to display range (km/mi of driving distance remaining), and when it stops showing the distance and says LOW FUEL, there is about 4L left in the tank. I've done several 80L fill-ups over the past 11 years. All LS430 fuel tanks are 84L (18.5 imp.gal).

I'm not sure how many litres are in the tank when the low fuel light comes on, but it's always around 100km +/- 10-15 of range remaining. taking 74-78L to fill-up.

Royal Purple Max-Atomizer has a maximum concentration dose of one 6oz bottle for 10 gallons (38L) of fuel and normal dose of one bottle for 20 gallons. Royal Purple Max-Clean says one 20oz bottle can do up to 20 gallons and doesn't specify a maximum concentration, but I assume the max dose is also one bottle for 10 gallons of fuel. Therefore, when the low fuel light comes on, there's 6-10L in the tank, so adding EFI cleaner and topping with 28L should get you close to the 38L needed for maximum PEA cleaner concentration.

Didn't see how old this post is however i thought i would mention, here in NZ i have driven my 2000 LS430 to the point of 'Low Fuel' and conveniantly there was a gas station less than 1km away. I stopped and filled the tank and it took 70L to fill it to the clicker.. I would assume the other 14L were still in the tank at that point.. considering i average 11-12L/100km i could guess 80-90km range.. but that would be rolling onto a gas station 😅 the most i have done personally was around 50km.

I have on one occasion put 79 litres in my tank. The display had been on 0 miles remaining for about 4 miles, the yellow warning light had been on for well over 45 miles, and I was already dreading the gas can walk when I found a gas station. <phew>
I was surprised that 3 litres were still left at that point as I was convinced it was already on fumes. The joys of a Sunday drive in the Massif Central in France. :-)
It is easy to miss that low fuel warning light on a sunny day. I now check the range whenever I set off, and go get gas if under 50 miles remaining.

When I had my gs430 I’ve driven with the light on for about a 44 mile round trip. the range indicator stated 0miles left for about 5 more miles before I filled up. Different model but same motor. Ive once read that on most Toyota’s the light will turn on around 35 miles left but I think there is a little “fluff” left in the tank for safe measure.
