Default VSC Warning and P1349 Code

I have a 2001 LS430 with around 187,000 miles. Last week I was driving and the VSC warning light went off. I had a service place pull the code and it was P1349. There's only a few threads on this in the 430 forum, but there is a lengthy one in the performance section (here). From most of the things that I have read, it sounds like the Oil Control Valve needs to be replaced. The odd thing is that most people report a rough idle associated with the error, but I am not noticing that. The car drives normal and yet the warning light pops up each time I start the car. I have tried resetting the VSC but no luck.

Any ideas?

Replace one oil control valve. There will be no rough idle etc if it fails.

I ordered the part (VALVE ASSEMBLY, CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL (LH - LEFT / DRIVER SIDE) Part Number 153400F010) from Sewell for $90. The installation is very simple and takes less than 10 minutes and the VSC warning is gone.

1) Disconnect the negative connector on the battery. (This will also clear the codes once you're done)
2) Remove engine cover.
3) Carefully remove the connector clip from the OCV, Press the latch on the back of the clip and wiggle up. (See image arrow #1)
4) Remove 10mm bolt (See image arrow #2)
5) Slide out old OCV (You may have to some wires/tubes out of the way to get it out.)
6) Install new OCV and put everything back together.
