Lightbulb 2001 LS430 bouncy RPM Gauge

Has anyone else experienced this problem? When I let off the gas, as the gauge returns to a low RPM, it sort of bounces on it's way down.

I've owned 2 1998 LS400's previous to my 2001 LS430, the RPM gauge on both of them was smooth on return compared to this one ...

If anyone has any idea what causes this? Or is it perfectly normal? Please let me know.

Thank you.

I see this on my 01. Usually under harder acceleration at faster speeds(i.e. getting on the highway). But notice that its only the needle, not the actual transmission. Its the only car Ive ever seen this in. I like to think like its the LFA..the needle cant keep up with the transmission shifting..should have made it a digital tac

my 01 does it also. and i agree with 94LSon20, i think that it cant keep up with the quick rpm changes.

Hey guys Im having the same issue on my 01 ls430. Its as if the engine disengages when I take my foot off the gas. Its like it drops into neutral soon as I let go of the gas. Has anyone managed to fix it?
