Default 24's on LS430......questions...

I have been upgrading a few things to my LS lately...(new radiator, 10000k bulbs, led mirrors..etc..) but now i think im ready to upgrade from my oem chrome 18's.. I know everyone is going to say 24's are too big because of the ride and smoothness reduction they would cause. But in my opinion, 20's are old, and 22's everyone has, and if you really want to do it big 24's and up in the only new way to go..

With than being said, I just need to know exactly what i would be looking at when attempting to do this mod. I have the stock suspension and everything rides good as is... But I understand I may need some type of new coils, or struts, and i am not familiar with suspension modification..

I need to know what type of parts I may need to buy to get this done. I dont mind having the reduction in my ride quality as long as the mod is done correctly and i dont have to worry about anything if i decide to put my oems back on if need be... I know upgraded brakes for the size of wheels, and possible fender mods may be needed.. Any feedback would be great..

and Yes i live in TX and everyone here rides big wheels

I have yet to see 24s on this car. Biggest I've seen are 22s and they looked huge on this car (more of an SUV size, I believe the Escalade offers 22s as their biggest rims, and they are a pretty good size on that even). I do want to say that I am not trying to discourage you. Quite the opposite, I am curious to see how it will fit (plus it's your car). I imagine you would need to run extremely thin tires just to get the wheel to fit in the wheel well. You might need to lower it too to prevent a big wheel gap (but a rim that size, maybe you would need to raise it a bit?). Not too sure. What sort of rims are you looking at?

As for parts, the typical suspension mod (assuming you're on normal springs) is just new springs and shocks/struts. You could look at changing out other components too (ie tie rods) while you're working in that area, but that would be more for just upkeep.

There is no way to run 24" wheels on the LS430 without significantly throwing off the speedometer. Even with 245/25/24 tires, the overall diameter of the tires will be over 2" bigger then stock, throwing off your speedo by a little over 7%. Meaning at 60 MPH, your speedo will show 55.6 MPH. There is just no need to run 24" wheels on this car, 22" will accomplish the same thing (but still look as bad IMO). 24" wheels belong on newer cars like the LS460 because they can afford to run then because they come with bigger rolling stock then our cars.

You asked this question already. Why are you asking again?

Very expensive mistake if you buy the wheels and tires and mount them and run to problems trying to drive with them. Your money, do what every you want. Don't feel bad when you post pic with 24s or even 22s on this forum and the overall opinion is a big thumbs down.

Your ride and your money..................just do it and ask opinion later . We pretty sure can put up a poll to see the outcome.

throwing off the speedo is of no concern for these guys when you're getting in this range

id go with an expensive set of 22's and call it a day, but if you really feel like ballin, step your game up and get a LS600 on 24's. i seriously love big wheels, my other ride is a bagged and body dropped yukon on big wheels but its all about style and fitment.

i know you want to ride around with your boy, chase some hoes and actually be able to put them in the ride. if you dont put a big *** lift kit, you will not be able to carry passengers or bump in the trunk without scraping tires on 24's.

that being said, its your car and i always heard "dont mess with texas". get it how you live.

Cool

I didnt even remember asking about 24's in a prior post, but now i am ready to get some wheels and want to make sure i know what i am getting into.

I suppose if 22's are less maintenance, i could go that route.. but i do have some heavy subs and etc in the car.. Rubbing and scraping would be a big no no for me to want to deal with.. Does anyone have problems with rubbing on theyre 22's..? Im not on air suspension either.. Any more advice would be helpful..

And no I live in San Antonio..all i see here are chargers and 300's on 22's and sometimes 24's.. When i pull up in my LS they always try showing those off i guess because they cant afford the LS... I need to get something bigger so I can shut all these haters down over here... LoL...

Maybe i would jump off the bridge if Kenny did -Mom

Maybe get a 1986 Buick LeSabre, mount those 24s, and get some hydraulics so you can make it jump up and down. That will show them : )

just kidding - its your $ so do how you like and have fun with it.

Damn i wish i coulda caught this thread when it was 1st posted. Maybe i coulda warned you that the guys on here dont take to kindly to anything thats 20+. In any event i put 22's on my LS before and IMO it looked great. Everyone round this way envied. But passengers in the backseat was a NO-GO!!

Dude 1st off anything can be done. 22's can fit on your car...even 24's with mods. Trust if you got extra cash....DO IT!! and send me pics!!

...BTW I took my 22's off and got an expensive set of 20's...only cause i been there done that.
