I have a 2006 LS 430 CL. The front and rear badges on the car are not silver and they are not gold. They are just kind of dark.
I don't think its oxidation because I've cleaned them with cleaner and they still look dark.

Was there actually cars sold with darker badges?

You got the dark chrome badges, they are plated by aftermarket companies and sold by dealers.

They are not a factory option.

A lot of dealers put them on brand new cars before they are sold, that makes some people believe they are a factory option, like how most chrome wheels are.

2nd gen GS300 and ES330 with the sport design package does come with black chrome badges from the factory though.

What BNR said. Depending on the color of the car, I think they can look really sharp.

Congrats on the car. +1 to what BNR34 mentioned. They can look very nice on light to medium colors and stealthy on darker colors. May not match some of the chrome trim so YMMV.

They stopped making gold and platinum series emblems in the early 2000's, now every badge is chrome. I actually just had a conversation with a parts guy from Lexus about a month ago, I wanted gold badges and he explained that don't make them anymore. Do u have any pics of them on the car??

are you guys sure that black pearl wasn't an option on the car? Iv seen it on both the front and the back emblems and lettering.

There is a company in dallas called agw, they sell new gold and black pearl packages. All oem parts. Much less than dealers prices. Phone is 800-237-8666. Nice people

Not listed on the original brochure.

Not listed in the Lexus part's catalog. If it was an OEM option, you can buy it direct from Lexus, like chrome wheel for example, pull up the wheel, they ask you which finish you want, chrome or silver. Pull up the badge, there is no finish to choose from, there is only one type........and we know what that is.

Oh yes, 100% sure.

Because it was all changed out.

Hmm, I don't see going to black / dark badges unless you also black / smoke the other chrome trim.

Actually I just realized my dad's GS300 Sport Design that came stock with black badges, it is only black in the rear, the front Lexus badge is still chrome.

Another prove that if you see it both in the front and the rear, it is more likely is not factory stock.
