Tried to Upgrade Nav DVD - results in "Program Disk is Inserted"
I purchased a 8.1 navigation update DVD for my 2001 ls430 (Gen 2) from Sewell. Just tried to do the upgrade now and ended up with a "Program Disk is Inserted" message in the middle of the nav screen.
History:
1.) Nav was working fine with orginal DVD prior to update
2.) When the new DVD was first inserted, I saw the update screen and progress bar
3.) Afther the progress bar completed the system seems to have rebooted
4.) At that point, I got a "Disk Read Error" message
5.) I ejected the DVD, wiped it clean, and placed it back in, after which I get the "Program Disk is Inserted" message
6.) When I tried to put the old DVD back (version 1), I get a "Disk Read Error"
7.) After putting the 8.1 DVD back in, it continues to show the "Program Disk is Inserted" message
I've searched the other threads where this message shows up due to an ECU / DVD drive failure. However, in my case, literally everything was working fine untill I upgraded the DVD. I do notice that the 8.1 DVD from Sewell has a nasty scratch on it that runs across the DVD at one spot. Could this actually just be an issue of a bad DVD? Should I just proceed to try and obtain another DVD from Sewell?

Ok - the issue was a scratched up DVD. Sewell Lexus, in a show of good customer service, sent me a brand new DVD before they even received the old one back from me. I just installed it today and the nav system is back online and working perfectly! Seems like I don't even need the override to be able to enter an address while the car is moving. I had thought I would though for version 8.1.

It's about $73 for the Gen 2/3 8.1 DVD. The other generations are a few bucks more (see link above).
